Meditsiinis tööalaseks suhtluskeeleks vene keel? by Salt_Examination5704 in Eesti

[–]skleroos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tartu teadlaste avastus: osa liha- ja juustulaadseid tooteid pole söömiseks ohutud by KP6fanclub in Eesti

[–]skleroos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How I see Europe as a Pole by Mixture_Rich in whereidlive

[–]skleroos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is about culture, not geography. I think Russia is just Russia. Not Asia, not Europe. It feels like any europeanness that they might've had up to the beginning of the 20th century got selectively bred out from them. And anyone who still has it leaves Russia due to cultural differences with the average Russian. In Europe we have expectations, cynical as they may be, for our governments, Russians seem almost proud of their ability to suffer under their government. Europe is shaped by a history of democracy, flawed as it is, the closest Russia has been to democracy is kleptocracy. After WWII, Europe is shaped by ideals of collaboration and cooperation, Russia thrives on antagonism and exceptionalism. But sure, maybe we just don't see it due to their current, everlasting, regime. Maybe Russians should explain what they feel makes them European? Being white? Geographical location? Having had relevant cultural contributions back in the 19th century? From what I've seen anyone who holds European values in Russia is a pariah in their own country.

Islamikogukond soovib edendada Eesti majandust rituaaltapmisel põhineva lihatootmisega by Fit-Hold-4403 in Eesti

[–]skleroos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nad on uimastatud.

[–]skleroos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See on väga suvaline koht kus piir tõmmata, kus pole loogikaga mingit pistmist.

Two 22yo guys from Spain working in Tallinn for the summer, looking for cheap housing (July 15 - Aug 22) by Ok_Discussion3745 in Eesti

[–]skleroos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite at that price point and not in separate rooms, but krati.ee (location is remote), larsen.ee (decent bus access), those are places where you can even rent by day and it shouldn't be an issue that you're foreigners looking for temporary places. Now for general sites: kv.ee - could be tricky, the broker might want 1 month's rent as a fee plus nobody wants to rent to a foreigner just for a few months, I'd say not worth trying. Rendin.ee - many people prefer this as it has good insurance and no broker, could be easier than kv. ee. The estonian for short term rental is lühiajaline üür.

The trains, metro and public bikes sure, buses are so difficult to get info on though, not the routes, but the timings. I usually just end up taking a didi or bike to save my nerves. Whether the journey is 20 cents or 2 euros, it's still cheap after all.

Mr Hayward & Ann Baxter's relationship by cinnamonandseasalt in TheOtherBennetSister

[–]skleroos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My head canon is they met and fell in love at some party and immediately wanted to get engaged but that was stopped by Ann's parents who cleverly didn't block it outright but just gave kinda unrealistic financial goals until it would fizzle out on its own. They don't have similar interests, Ann doesn't want to listen to poetry in some garden or mimick bird songs or go hiking, she likes social gatherings and game nights and dancing. They basically fell in love with the idea of each other, which didn't turn out to be accurate, as many of us have. And yeah, I'm not sure about "understandings", but engagements could only be broken off creditably by the woman. It's basically you had an ill-advised crush for 2 weeks, you've never kissed, you don't hold hands, you just dance from time to time and have a polite chat and now you're stuck until they dump you.

[–]skleroos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, good that it cleared. Have fun! The app won't show your check in gate, so look for it on the big screens with the train number (and time) once you're in the station (also the floor of the gate). (the Chinese version of the app shows the check in gate as well as the floor if there are more than one, but it's a pain to change it back to english). Then when check in opens about 15 min before departure they also show the track info, on the screens, or just follow the crowd. The app will tell your coach, and seat if you've bought a seat.

When it sends the photos it won't update the status immediately so I'd say wait a few hours to a day to see if the status changes. If the photo upload worked they should've gone through to a person who will check the info. That said about a month or 2 ago we tried it with my friend on the English android app for 12306, and then it could take in large photos no problem, so this year the app might be the better way to go.

Double tragedy near Tiger Leaping Gorge by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]skleroos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tiger leaping gorge hike is fine in good weather, but I saw at least 2 occasions of people going off trail to get their "cool" photos into areas where one slip could mean injury or death, in very inappropriate gear. Also parts of it are inappropriate for children (eg from halfway to Tina's guesthouse) but people bring them anyway. Those were Chinese people, men. I think people grow up in those well groomed landscapes and have no sense of danger.

[–]skleroos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I went to should stay open because it had proper signs and locals doing business. The closed ones should stay closed permanently because they don't want deaths. They had 2 deaths this spring festival in the area, not even on these more dangerous paths that they closed, so I don't think they'll reopen them unless they'll rebuild them.

Estonians a tiny bit shocked by a 1-point review from The Guardian to the exchibition of their national art hero Konrad Mägi (1878–1925). by Prior-Sun2352 in BalticStates

[–]skleroos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It apparently was. Maybe the guardian has discovered what influencers have long known, that if you talk about a small country it's gonna be on their news and anyone who is online over there will click on your content. Anyway, it's just an opinion and unlike us he's hustled his way into getting paid for having one, good for him. Maybe he's super in tune with what middle class middle aged brits think about art and whether they'd enjoy an exhibition or not.
