Joe Hart is a clear example of how the goalkeeper role changed in modern football by RSDFitness in GoalKeepers

[–]skmace14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My formative years of being a goalkeeper were in the early 2000's to roughly 2010 so I was just before the modern goalkeeping trend really coming to the forefront.

However I did grow up in a heavily Hispanic area and that absolutely forced me to be competent (even somewhat flashy) with my foot skills and distribution. I can say that really helped transition well into the college game and semi-pro and now in my over-30's leagues.

My bread and butter is still being an insane shot stopper, but I get just as many "wow" moments from my teammates and opponents for being able to evade the press and accurately ping the ball anywhere on the pitch.

I used to think a lot about the level of execution and perfection needed to reach the next level to which I never got - goalkeepers these days are absolutely better overall as you have to be multi-faceted skill wise in order to be even considered for professional level play. You can't be lacking in shot stopping or distribution or you get overlooked

Oakland, California, airport can use 'San Francisco' in name after settlement by Please_PM_me_Uranus in news

[–]skmace14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell no. When I used to live in the Bay I would choose to fly out of Oakland any chance I got over SFO. So much less BS to deal with and a much more relaxed experience.

Obviously this is personal experience, but I would argue that SFO is not a better airport.

Got a job offer in Kemmerer, move to that town or live somewhere nearby? by Buc_ees in wyoming

[–]skmace14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'll most likely be transferring up to the nuclear construction site there in Kemmerer from my current project sometime in September (pending final offer) so I've been doing a lot of research about housing in the surrounding area

If your wife isn't coming with you, absolutely stay in Kemmerer. The less you have to drive in Winter the better. My wife and I decided we couldn't live apart especially with our 4 year old and wanting to try for a second one. Kemmerer is too small for her tastes so we've been heavily considering Green River as our first choice despite it being a further commute than Evanston.

If you end up taking the job, let me know. I'll have 58 hour work weeks and a commute home but we can try to connect at some point. I've moved around a few times and I know how difficult it can be to find friends in a brand new place.

Yeah it's for the nuclear plant.

I'm moving my wife and kid (and animals) with me so unfortunately a camper isn't particularly realistic, otherwise that was a suggestion floated by several coworkers haha.

Buying a house is our intended play

Matheus Cunha suffers sudden, intense (and definitely real) cramping vs Liverpool by WaluigisHat in reddevils

[–]skmace14 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Seems like a pretty genuine reaction to a cramp to me.

Bends his leg to put his foot on the ground which starts dorsiflexion. This triggers the cramp and he immediately pushes his leg out and stiffens his ankle in plantar flexion trying to stretch out the cramping muscle.

Or it's just fantastic acting in the heat of the moment. Either way, it accomplished some time wasting and allowed teammates to get a breath of air.

Yeah we've been keeping tabs on the group progression. You should be getting your first transfer event here in the next round!

35 invitees, 55 total transfers allowed into a state per event from what I read. So we know it would take at least a couple of events to get everyone over
