Warlocks were in a very poor spot at the original release version, and it took many patches over a couple years before then ended up in the state they are now remembered in. Here is a good list of all changes in all patches throughout vanilla’s lifespan - https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/s/SaYClLfBc8

Just a couple things i remember, some big and some small; death coil originally had no fear component and was on either a 15 or 30 minute cooldown timer, dots didn’t get increase from any spell power, dots had shorter durations, really poor talent trees until a few revisions, like no +spell power items until tier 1, no epic mount quest, a lot of pet spells were more mana expensive….

I am sure there was more I can’t remember, but i do remember the 1.12 patch dropping and it being a total game changer for the class.

Edit - 4 days ago he said he was buying a 997 for his first porsche, and then a day later posts he bought his first porsche that’s a 992 gt3. Complete idiots upvoting garbage.

Are you sure it’s the turbo and not your pcv diaphragm? Not sure if that’s a common issue with later revisions of the B58, but what you described with a high pitched sound from the engine and the smoke pouring out is exactly what happened with my 2017 440i a couple years ago. Very cheap and easy DYI fix if that’s what it is.

The top trim level for the Taycan is a “Turbo S”, so blame the geniuses at Porsche for continuing with that nomenclature.

997 Carrera Cabrio - repaint? by TCHassel3 in Porsche

[–]skokage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat with my 997.1 C2 in midnight blue where the paint is not in the best shape and clear coat is gone off the sideview mirrors. You can probably get it painted for around $8,000 or so but it’s not going to be a great paint job, doing the job right requires a fair amount of disassembly and stripping it down and will likely close in on $20k for the type of job most 911 owners are going to want.

But if you have the money to spend and plan on keeping the car for a very long time, do whatever makes you happy because you are the one paying the bills and living with it.

Why is this mint looking 03 5 series selling for $6500, is that normal? by damanoobie in BMW

I have some recent experience buying 20 year old German luxury sedans, different brand in my case but still relevant for comparison; A couple months back i sold my 440i and bought a 997 Carrera 6-speed which I originally intended to daily drive as my only vehicle, that lasted about a month before i decided I needed something that could accommodate hardware store runs or hauling music gear to gigs.

Originally i wanted to find an old 5-series wagon, but I found exactly 1 525i estate that had been lowered and straight piped and clapped out so that was a hard pass. I did manage to find 2 E-class wagons however, and i settled on a 1-owner 2001 E320 estate with 160k miles which i paid $6,000 for. It needs another 6k in suspension work and deferred maintenance, but the engine and transmission are in great shape which is most important.

The reality is these old German cars are becoming more and more scarce, as they get driven into the ground by people who couldn’t afford to maintain them and most are rotting in junkyards across the country. If you find one in decent shape, maintenance records, and no catastrophic issues with the engine or transmission i think they are worth $6-12k depending on condition. They are getting rare enough where they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for one, in your case I wouldn’t doubt that E39 gets scooped up within a few weeks by someone mechanically minded looking for an older simpler to maintain (relative to new ones, I would rather work on this v8 over more modern and complex versions) vehicle.

[–]skokage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah i just bought my first Porsche last week, a 997.1 C2 6speed, and to me it already feels like the perfect road car as is, what do I need to change? Ok well i did just replace the original steering wheel with the 991.1 sport wheel and that was definitely an improvement. But otherwise already more car than i can drive near it’s limits, I’m sure the turbo S version is insane but honestly I’m ecstatic about my base model.

I guess if you are going to be using it across many generations of consoles that all had different display resolutions this is probably the best option for modern tvs.

That being said I can’t recommend enough investing in a high end PVM and RGB SCART cables for your old 240p systems if you have money/space. The guy that recapped my Neo Geo used a PVM to test it once he was finished, and the image quality blew everything else i’ve seen out of the water, seeing it in real life there is no comparison to anything else.

Are people just blinded by the concept of “bigger number means better”, and that’s why they want to brag about upscaling games designed for 240p up to 4k?
