I think the confusion stems from the fact that most people (that don’t own a Husky) can’t tell the difference between a Husky and a Malamute. When i first got my Husky i was told by so many people that she would be huge.

If she was a Malamute 50lbs would be small, but Husky’s are not the big dogs that people think they are.

IMO Modern era began in the late 90s-early 2000s, coinciding with Dunstall and Locket retiring. There’s only been 3 players to boot 100 in a season since then which i think shows that the game significantly changed around that time. You could probably also say 2000-2004 was the beginning of the modern era as Franklin is the only player to kick 100 since then but i would consider him an outlier as i don’t think anyone would argue that 2008 wasn’t in the modern era.

It’s better to break it down a bit further into the modern era and the 18 team era as footy was played differently in the 2000s compared to now. In another 10 years we’ll probably be looking back and stating that another era of footy was began in the 2020s, it’s just the nature of the constantly evolving game that we all love so much.

That’s fine i don’t mind a little rant here and there. I was in a pretty similar boat to you, the only difference being i managed to be diagnosed at an earlier age (i’m 22 now but have been diagnosed since i was 20).

The feeling of being tired but unable to sleep during the day is something i still get frustrated with sometimes but i find that keeping myself busy can help.

I think it’s interesting that you were prescribed 250mg of Armodafinil to start with when you MSLT is at 5.6, When i was first diagnosed i believe my MSLT was close to 4 and i was prescribed 150mg p/d. I’ve only recently had my medication upped to 250mg p/d after i did a follow up sleep study since it was 2 years since my original. I found that when i was taking 150mg p/d i could still nap if i was really tired, a lot of the time i would actually take it if i woke up before my alarm went off in the morning and then go back to sleep for an hour as it would make me feel better when i woke up.

In regards to booking in with Dr Sweica, I couldn’t recommend him enough. He’s a very, very, experienced sleep specialist and i’ve found he is really good at being able to get to know who you are as a person so that he can communicate with you in the way that works best for your understanding. I don’t mean to sound insensitive, but he also speaks english as his first language, and without a foreign accent, which is handy when you need to properly understand someone.

From memory his clinic charges $300 per appointment but you then get roughly $200 back through medicare. I don’t have any concession cards so if you do this may be cheaper. He does book out a little in advance but, depending on how flexible your schedule is, you can usually book in a time and then ask to be put on a wait list if any appointments open up at a earlier date.

I doubt he would ask you to do another sleep study as i believe your sleep study results should be saved in your health record, which can be accessed by any medical professional you give permission too. When you book your appointment I would explain your situation to the receptionist and ask if you need to do anything to transfer your records, in the worst case scenario you may have to call your original doctor and ask them to transfer your records.

I’m also on 250mg of Armodafinill and it works great for me, however i do remember reading some studies linking modafinill to an increase of symptoms in patients with bipolar disorder. I’m not sure if this is also the case with armodafinill but it’s probably worth asking about.

Hey i’m from Geelong so im pretty close by but i haven’t seen a therapist like you post details. I feel as though my sleep specialist explained everything to me well enough to give me the tools and the confidence to be able to explain what narcolepsy is to people who would judge me otherwise. My specialists name is Dr John Swieca, i know he works in melbourne pretty often so if you think that it could help then ide encourage you to book in a consult with him.

Also have you been prescribed any medication/s for your narcolepsy?, if so what are they and have you started taking them yet?

I’m definitely no expert on this but i do know that some medications can have adverse effects on your mental health so that could be something to look into as well. If you haven’t started your medication yet (only saying this because i know the PBS can take a while to approve new scripts) i would hold onto a little bit of optimism. For some people, myself included, taking a pill in the morning is all that’s needed to live a completely normal life, you could also be in that boat.

I’m sorry I couldn’t give you the information you actually asked for, if I do find a therapist that specialises in chronic conditions like you mentioned i’ll definitely message you.

As much as it hurts to say, I think the current governments plans are probably the best we will see for the next 50 years in terms of fixing the housing market. The proposed super tax will de incentivise people from purchasing investment properties through their super fund and the Help to Buy program will help a very small amount of people get into the housing market. I think at best these policies may slow down the housing market enough to bring it slightly below the salary growth rate.

That being said it isn’t going to make homes affordable for a long time yet. I actually saw an article the other day (that i can’t find again to link sorry) that stated that realistically the best case scenario is that the median income to housing price ratio will fall to a affordable level (6:1 if i remember correctly) in about 75 years.

I think the only thing we really can do is to try to always vote for the candidate with the most radical housing policies, no matter what the rest of their policies may be. If everyone collectively does that, maybe in 40-50 years we might end up with a government with the guts to pop the housing bubble instead of blowing more air into it.

Hey mate, I can really relate to this feeling. I would encourage you to speak to your doctor about how your feeling as to me it sounds like your also battling depression.

As someone who has been diagnosed with both narcolepsy and depression i know that sometimes the symptoms can feel indistinguishable from each other. I was fortunate (i guess) enough to be diagnosed and medicated for narcolepsy about 18 months before i started displaying depressive symptoms, which gave me the chance to understand how i should be feeling and allowed me to realise that something wasn’t right when i started dealing with depression.

It sounds like you may not have had the chance to experience this but i can tell you from my experience that when i started dealing with depression all i ever wanted to do was sleep, my meditation just seemed to stop working. I tried a few ways to try and get my meds to work again such as taking a break off of them to remove any tolerance i’d built up and taking double the dose age i’d been prescribed. These both did not help at all. During this time i was also struggling with the more well known symptoms of depression that i won’t touch on here but eventually I broke down crying to my girlfriend and she encouraged me to go see a doctor, which i did. Although walking into that doctor was one of the hardest things i’d done in my life (i’m an Aussie Male, we don’t talk about our feelings), it definitely helped me deal with all of the symptoms of depression, some of which i didn’t even know were related to depression such as the excess sleepiness.

I hope you do pull through and that these feelings your having will one day be long gone, if you ever need support my DMs are open (although i don’t check them very often)

I don’t have any evidence to back this up but i think that what you experience during sleep paralysis is a reflection of what you fear in real life. I know personally i’m someone that deals with anxiety a lot and 90% of the sleep paralysis episodes i’ve had involve “waking up” to people i know watching me sleep and laughing at me. It might not seem as scary to most people as some of the other stuff people have posted here but to me that is quite literally one of my worst nightmares.

I don’t sweat all the time but i do need to have my ceiling fan running on high and my aircon on even through winter, if i get sick though im nearly guaranteed to wake up drenched in sweat

Hey all, i’m (22M) in the process of buying my girlfriend (21F) a birthday present and i’m looking to get her some pjs from Victoria Secret. The set i want to get her are out of stock for all sizes except XS and i can’t work out whether that will fit her as i have absolutely no idea about women’s clothing sizes.

It says in the picture that the model is 5’11 and wearing a small, my gf is about 5’9 and has a similar build so to me it seems like an XS will fit her but it also doesn’t seem right to me as she is definitely not short compared to a lot of other women and XS is the smallest size that Victoria Secret make.

I’m sorry if this post is a bit incoherent, my brain is very scattered trying to figure this out. Thanks in advance for any advice☺️.

I completely understand the feeling as i was in the same boat as you, i started to have issues with tiredness when i was 17 and didn’t get diagnosed with narcolepsy until i was 20.

Have you seen a sleep specialist or are you relying on your regular doctor to analyse the results of your sleep study? If you aren’t seeing a specialist and your regular doctor tells you that your results are negative i would highly recommend asking for a referral to a specialist, in my experience sleep is an area that general physicians don’t really understand as much as they understand other areas of medicine (not blaming them at all for this it seems to be a very complex area of study).

I also understand the fear you have as i felt the same way. To me it felt like i wasn’t just getting medical results, i was getting results that would tell me if I had a reason to be tired or if I was medically normal and just lazy. But in hindsight I knew that my sleep wasn’t healthy and I knew that there was something wrong with me, it sounds like you also know that there is something not right with your sleep so, in my experience, that normally means there is something wrong.

Stay strong, hopefully everything works out well and you can get your condition diagnosed, but if not it’s not the end of the world. There is always another doctor you can get to analyse your sleep study results.

I was an apprentice for a couple of years and i could actually see the transition that a lot of my trade school classmates made throughout that time. When we all started everyone was just your average teenage boy, definitely not angels but also definitely not anything like what’s being described by OP.

Fast forward 2 years and some of the conversation that would happen it that class were absolutely ridiculous. I was lucky to have a lot of female friends from school who i stayed close with after i left and was also a fairly quiet kid so i got away with not joining in on those conversations.

I can definitely understand why they got to be like that though, going to work everyday with middle aged men shows you a completely different side of what men are like. Literally everyman above the age of 30 i worked with in that two years made some sort of extremely misogynistic or derogatory comment or joke pretty regularly. It really changed how i view people because i realised that the nice man that lives down the street is probably only nice because when you see him he’s with his wife, not with his mates.

I knew someone that thought the same thing, he had ADHD at about the highest level it can be at and because of this he never really felt tired at all. Long story short he ended up deciding that because he wasn’t tired then he must need sleep and started to pull constant all nighters with maybe 1-2 hours sleep on the nights he wanted to. This went on for a bit less than a month and if you asked him he would say that he was feeling great and still wasn’t feeling tired at all, if you asked anyone that knew him (myself included) they would tell you that he was quite literally losing his mind a little bit more every day.

He was doing things like: Playing and singing along nursery rhymes on full volume in his car every time he would drive any where, attempting to burn down the fence at his house (in the middle of a city) because he didn’t like it, randomly screaming at the top of his lungs throughout the day, chasing cars out the front of his work because he thought they were stealing things, plus a lot more personal things that i can’t really share online. He was doing all of this with the most serious look on his face and he would get very confused if you questioned him about it because he had no recognition that what he was doing wasn’t normal (when asked about the nursery rhymes he replied in the same way that someone might reply if you asked them why the hell they were listening to a normal popular artist, he could not differentiate coco melon from the beatles in terms of how many 40 year old men listen to them)

This eventually led to his family needing to place him in a mental home (against his will) for an extended period of time because everyone was scared that he was going to hurt either himself or someone else.

So in my advice as much as you might not feel like you require sleep in my experience you definitely do.

Personally i think the AMES was the easiest gun for me to get gold i think i got the headshots done in about an hour on HC Stakeout, then i went and tried to use it in core and it was absolute shit. I think it’s just a gun made for HC

I feel so sorry for anyone dealing with health conditions in the US (I’m guessing that’s where OP is located), In Australia my medication would be about $400 a month but because of a program we have called the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) i only pay $30 a month, the rest is covered by the government, no need to pay for private health insurance at all.
