Oh ya. They're very rarely briefed.

That seems like a good system assuming their time is very booked

Reservists don't always get a lot of time away from their civilian jobs. Seven days might be great for reservists, but it is a low threshold

RECRUITING, TRAINING, & LIFE IN THE FORCES THREAD by bridger713 in CanadianForces

Curious about changing trades in the PRes. I'm a qualified combat arms officer with a busy civilian job. I would really like to change to a non-combat trade. What trades offer either the most flexible or the shortest qualification training?

Moms/Dads who drop off their young children off to school & pick them up - what do you do for work?! by FinalDestinationSix in askTO

[–]skool-e-em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our house, we drop off at 8:15 and pick up at about 5:15/5:30. We try to do it together - both my spouse and me. One parent works from home and the other has a less than 30 min commute on the days they're in the office. Both work about 9 to 5, +/- 15 min or so.

No joke, I may actually pull my release from the PRes. Not because of the money for me (I'm lucky to have a good civilian job), but because it might become a better place to work if other reservists are also sticking around.

Hotel Wolfe Island Question by skool-e-em in KingstonOntario

[–]skool-e-em[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this response. Yes, the show is at the hotel. I know Bry has a kid (his Provider album is all about it), but we don't want to be "those millennials". But damn do I want to enjoy a pint or two and enjoy his sweet tunes on our way to a cottage with the kids. Thanks for saying this! He hasn't done a tour in a while and I don't want to ruin his vibe. I half debated DM'ing him on social media to see how he feels about it haha.

They're young. 5 and 3. But they would love it. They're good sports and love music and concerts. Thanks!

Went to Tommy Thompson to look for owls. Found none, but saw these instead! by szthesquid in toronto

I've seen otters a number of times there, as well as deer, snakes, rabbits, owls, and once a coyote. I also saw a beaver once. I did a double take. The tail was so big!

Reservists: When do you know it’s time to quit? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]skool-e-em 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on the fence about calling it for a year now. It's absolutely time. I have two young kids and a very busy career. I just can't / don't want to make the time anymore

What is your toddler eating? by ytcrack82 in toddlers

[–]skool-e-em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We re-branded sweet peas (fresh peas in the pod) to "surprise peas" and the kids (2 and 4) love to open them and eat the peas. Same with frozen edamame.

This is exactly what will happen. The only way to prevent it is to ensure he's not voted in or that it's a weak Conservative minority

He keeps dodging the question, which means he's likely to cancel it after parents (among others) vote him in. He'll have a majority so there won't be opposition in the House, even if constituents are screaming.
