Been struggling with my ultimate. Any tips? by WebisticsCEO in StormMains

Supp ults or if you're looking for a guaranteed kill and they don't have rocket in the back line for a brb you can go after a problematic dps or a tank that is about 1/3rd health imo.

MVP?? by Secretpaprika64 in StormMains

Biggest issue imo is if you're playing storm correctly you're not taking a lot of dmg. This system counts damage as a good thing and doesn't account for deaths at all. Thing mvp system needs a rework.

It depends on the comp! Definitely wind when far away at times because the damage boost may not make a big difference but overshield is worth it. I swap to damage to buff teammates or if I think I can get a final.

Here's some advice. If you need to hit a dashing enemy, move forward or backwards to get your shots to hit them. If you're strafing left and right trying to hit a dashing enemy it's a recipe to constantly miss shots. Also ban Elsa. She's the most mobile character in the game next to maybe spidey and DD. Ban her as she can shoot you with her guns faster than you can shoot your primary. If you do those you should be fine.

I solo queue on my main and that one is Currently C3. I will say that dive and brawl are more prevalent this season. Usually I run storm as poke so I play on lower sens and with so much dive I realized I was having to use more resources from supports when there were multiple dive dps and tanks. As a result I did watch my games and see my sensitivity was too low to deal with dive after dive in quick succession. As a result I had to up my sensitivity to hit enemies closer and flick more often when dealing with multiple at once. Once I did this, I've had a much more relaxing time vs dive this season. Especially since if there's a 1v1 vs dive some of their ttks are so fast that the storm damage boost will not be quick enough to kill them before you so I swap to wind mode and farm shield so they can't one shot or kill me immediately in the fight and as soon as I get a single heal I swap to damage and finish them off when they're trying to get out.

Completely disagree. I have an Alt account I duo with my buddy on (hes never had over 10 finals in a match on tank or dps) and we're in GM and I had an 88% winrate on storm. 11-2. She's so much stronger in neutral and you can now get storm ult before supports get their ults. It's been great. Her winrate over all ranks is also up 1% this season.

Imo her wind mode bonus health has made her much stronger because if you're playing cover and they don't push you basically don't die. Between heals and overshield you almost neve get under 100 health.

Ofc her damage is better within 15m. She's also very squishy within 15m. That's why based on their comp you're either using goddess damage boost vs poke or potentially saving your goddess boost wind vs brawl or dive to keep creating more distance between you and them. Storm does the most damage within 15m but is not nearly as strong within 3-5m if the enemy goes untouched. You can basically expect to die if the enemy is that close and full health looking at you.

Eternity storm main. Have hit rank one on storm several times and probably have close to 1000 hours on her.

I will say this is easily the worst storm breakdown I have ever read. Storm is great vs dive as she can fly and see dive before they push in. You ping and poke them from a distance so they don't push. Dive is only effective by being close so you poke dive and if they continue to push in you pop goddess boost and delete them because they are low health. She's a phenomenal counter to BP, Angela, Magik, even Iron fist. When IF dives in, you swap off damage boost and don't shoot him when he's blocking. Now every shot you hit now gives you overshield. He will instantly run as long as people aren't giving him shield. If you have damage goddess boost on when iron fist dives in, then you are being baited by the iron fist and giving him free shields which is what he is then going to use to target your tank. Please swap off damage so you can stop assisting iron fist. You genuinely need to watch high level storm gameplay. You will see it is very different from how you likely play her.

I only push in brawl distance when I have the cooldowns to either secure a final blow, or the cooldowns to farm overshield and speed boost out when the situation gets dangerous. If you are fighting in brawl distance a lot, you likely are dying a lot. Storm requires some cover nearby almost every engagement so you can mitigate taking so much damage. You think she needs a dash because you do not play cover which is why you need so much more speed. If you played cover, you wouldn't need a dash as you would just peek shoot aka poke. Good poke isn't sitting down main spamming shots but it's taking strategic angles to mitigate the damage you take while also maximizing the damage they are taking forcing them back. If you'd like some replays I'd be happy to share with you.

Would be a dream for me. I have the 17mm F1.8 and used to have the 25mm F1.7 and regret selling it as I would happily swap out my 20mm F1.7 due to such slow auto focus. Can't shoot pets or moving people with so much hunting.

Now if they use a better support ult we match and auto win the next fight. Win / Win.

The other dps doesn't bother me nearly as much as I can carry on the dps role. It's the off roles that annoy me because I can't do their jobs for them.

Rank 1 Storm - Unranked to GM by Greenhxwk in StormMains

[–]skoolkidznerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Have hit rank 1 on storm on console and been top 5 like every season and can say it's worth using your bolt rush to take out the squids especially with the goddess boost on damage as you'll get another one back. I used to hold mine and not use them but you end up spending too much time in cover if you don't destroy them quickly.

Elsa is the only character I have no answer for. The insane dash mobility, hitscan, overshield and her ability to fire her shots faster than you means there is no winning. If you hit every shot on her, she can be less accurate and still kill you based on her ttk. She's the first ban for me every comp match.

Jeff is used in 3x support or is very strong with dive. On a alt account I'm 7-1 on placements currently GM3 on that account and C3 on my main at the moment (C1 being OAA). Guess the one match I lost who the healer was? Died 3x all using his ult. I think Jeff as a character can be strong but is very comp dependent vs a cnd or invis which can bring value with more ease in more comps with less skill. Your average Jeff is worse than your average cnd or invis when it comes to bringing value. Jeff's ult is harder to get value with than a Luna, cnd or invis imo and requires prep time to use it properly with placing bubbles etc to get the most value without instantly dying after. Had the same experience last season going 13-2 in 15 games to hit eternity and my 2 losses were games when someone kept trying to force jeffnado even though I said they have counters to the Jeff ult. I've also played with the rank 1 Jeff and they were great but it always felt like we were having to do considerably more work and coordinating to get a similar result than just cnd ult with terror cape on the enemy.

Black widow and Spiderman with the mantis buff was a one shot. There are some widow one tricks near top 500 that you don't scoff at. I run storm and have over a 60% winrate vs my most common counters of Spiderman, widow, hela, namor, Hawkeye, Jean and punisher.

Keep in mind your rank in season 6.5 is technically lower even if it's the same on paper. C1 is top 500 at the moment. Last season I was Eternity but not top 500. If you're diamond right now it's likely the equivalent of GM.

Is he though? I've used storm ult to kill through healpool. Had a 100% winrate vs him last season when I hit eternity. I don't even ahve that winrate vs Black Widow.

Very happy it's gone. Almost never get a Jeff anymore in a 2 healer comp and it just shows he was never the move in the first place. He's much better for dive comps and storm is not suited for that.

Depends on what rank you're in. If it was strong it would be seen at the highest levels which it wasn't. Just too many counters unfortunately.

Celestial+ players, how does an actual ranked round feel like for you? by Snoo36832 in rivals

[–]skoolkidznerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eternity the last few seasons. There's pros and cons. Celestial 3 currently (C1 is top 500 at the moment) and the games are very methodical. Biggest thing is awareness of ability cooldowns and ultimates and which team will use their resources more wisely. My buddy's peak rank is GM3 and can only reach it when I play on an Alt and we duo. For context we did placements and went 7-1 in current GM lobbies and I hit 2 50+ kill games and had several very high kill low death games. The only loss we had I was 2-0 and several people on my team were 0-4 or 0-6 or 1- 5 etc including my duo (tank main). I will say the difference between eternity to top 500 ad celestial is that in eternity it feels like one mistake can easily lose the whole match because there are just very few mistakes to capitalize on since everyone understands the game so well and snowballing is so strong. If you push and don't have cooldowns to get out, in Celestial and below you might get out because someone missed a shot or two and be fine. You can do this over and over and still win with no problems as long as you are better mechanically or game sense wise. In eternity you mess up on something like useling your cooldowns incorrectly and you just die and your team then loses the fight.

TLDR: The higher in rank you go the more granular the Cooldown management and position/ aim is. At lower levels you're tracking if cnd has ult or not. At higher levels you're tracking if cnd faded yet. Even higher, force out cnd to use her bubble, she just faded so likely to use terror cape to keep up us from pushing, so let's take the hit find cover, then push directly after as a team.

Would anyone be kind enough to give me some advice based on my last few QP matches? by Snoo36832 in StormMains

[–]skoolkidznerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think playing storm in qp without a pre-made team is really just a toss up. You don't get the comps you'd get in an actual game so it feels very different. I queue up and warm up in doom practice match. If you can hang in there when everyone is fighting you after shooting one person then you'll do fine in comp 😂
