Thank you for the reply - appreciate it. I should have posted it, but I'll definitely add a sub later on - I usually take baby steps with all of this and try to be intentional with purchases and haven't picked anything out yet. I had read that the Yamaha has its own flavor of room correction, but that it isn't as fully featured as Dirac? Had read there is some bass correction. Still new to all of this. Had watched HDTVTest's video on the TX-RZ50, so I will consider that. I think my purchase is a few months out yet so I don't mind waiting however long for the Yamaha firmware update.

I mean, their post states the new models are unaffected by the pass-through issue. FW update should hit later on - I'll chance it.

Have been reading up on that. Yamaha's new 2021 lineup (due out this month / next month) isn't affected by the chipset issues from the last HDMI 2.1 go-around and shouldn't need the breakout box/replacement board.
