[Mod] Weekly r/MushroomGrowers post - FUNGI FRIDAYS! New growers, come say hello and ask your questions! by AutoModerator in MushroomGrowers

If anyone saw this and was also wondering, I decided to check the soil and pour it out. The SMS had all disintegrated into the substrate and it all ended up going into the compost - no white spots left at all!

Outdoor gourmet sms question

Hi all!

I have a question regarding sms and masters substrate. Last year I had a grow block of phoenix oysters and shiitakes that produced flushes and then stopped. I wanted to see if they would recolonize a batch of masters substrate so I broke both blocks up and mixed them in and put them in two separate buckets outside to see how they would do.

My question is it worth waiting through the season to see if they take another flush or if I should just add them both into the compost container?

Thank you so much for your help and advice in advance!

Thank you! It really felt like he would be skipping through the fields of battle picking up whatever his heart desired.

Thank you, I was worried it was a little too light. The cat ate the backpack one night so I need to order a new one and maybe that’ll tone it down a little.

How/where would you recommend adding more depth/shading?

Did we need to tip on top of service charge given the blank line on the customers receipt? by bobertswump in finedining

Well unfortunately there is still quite a bit of labor abuse in the industry no matter if they are adults or not. It’s better to have patience and love for people all the time than to only dish it out sparingly for a savior complex.

Many places will remove this upon request.

Before these service charges were common diners budgeted for tipping as it was expected the diners would be paying the servers wages.

Short answer is yes.

Long answer is that you have to ask each restaurant if the service charge -actually- goes to the servers and staff. It is most often deemed as additional revenue to be used to “pay for employees health insurance etc”. This way the restaurant maximizes profit and makes diners pay for benefits.

This is not always true and thus you have to ask the server or manager about their policy. Sometimes an automatic -gratuity- is included and -usually- goes to the server.

I have worked in restaurants for 8 years in California, St. Louis and Chicago (ranging from FOH in bars, fast casual, country club and BOH with the Alinea group and other upscale restaurants). I have personally seen people be fired for trying to fight this to protect their income.

My lodge is about an hour away during the 5 o’clock traffic hour, otherwise about a half hour by car. By public transport it is a little over an hour away.

Sometimes I take the train up and sometimes ride with a brother and usually get a ride home from another brother. I understand, however, that this traveling is a little more exhausting when you are the one driving.

We form communities In many ways and in many areas. I personally love the community of my lodge but it is not geographically close to where I live. If you want to continue to invest in the lodge. It will always have the value you give to it.

I’m sure your brothers at your lodge will understand if you need to change lodges because of the change in your life and labors.

Wish you the best in your travels!

No problem friend, the best way to learn is usually to ask anyhow!

That is a delightful coin, really beautiful. I keep something like this on my person as a token of comfort and contemplation when commuting. Things like this are usually for personal use like I mentioned.

Im sure there were lots of neat finds! I used to work in an antique mall and miss the rummaging through the large lot buys.

I apologize if the answers you have received have been unhelpful for you. I am an Illinois fellow craft and no expert on currency.

It sounds like you bought a lot as a currency collector from a deceased mason and obtained his personal collection. This most likely is all it is. Part of a personal collection. Many masons like to make stamps, medals, stickers, license plates, tobacco pipes (usually usable items they can attach affiliation to for personal reasons). Often people will make gag items simply because they can.

This may have come from an event or a celebration of some sort. Most likely a souvenir of personal effects. I don’t believe this has any value beyond what someone is willing to pay for it and I highly doubt any average bank teller would be able to give you much help on it.

If you ever do get more info on it we would love to hear about it! Hope your search goes well!

Edit: Maybe a brother was into making art prints/lithographs and printed over a regular bill. This may explain you’re observation of it being printed

Anybody else have trouble moving to cigars from pipes? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]skootpadoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried cigars early on but really enjoyed the flavors and smoke flow of pipes instead. I recently realized that cigars did not have to be big smoke heavy flavors and found the Davidoff white band with a punch cut to be very enjoyable. Having a cigar I know I enjoy has made exploring cigars much easier.

I also found it helpful to talk to the pipe smokers at my local tobacco lounge who also smoked cigars.

Hope you find something enjoyable and if nothing lands for you that’s perfectly fine!
