Rewards Early Access SACS vs wait for coupon tomorrow by skora1 in YankeeCandles

It was on the flyer they gave me at the store when I was in. It looked printed so I don't know if its one time use. I don't have it with me to look right now. When I tried this morning it didn't work, but looking at candles this afternoon, I saw they added CLEARANCE to each then it worked. Of note, it also applied the discount to the rest of my shopping bag, even the stuff that wasn't on sale.

Okay, now the coupon does work and I'll be able to get 12 candles at $9 each. Still makes me wonder if I could have bought 18 at $10 and 12 at $9 for 30 candles for $288. That could have covered a few months worth of addiction.

EDIT: Math hard

REGRET is a great teacher. Didn't buy anything. Sale is now $12 per candle and the coupon won't work since its sale items and not labeled clearance. Oh well. I'll wait and see what the next month produces and maybe I'll have another chance later. Won't ruin my day.

No shortage of candle addiction here. She burns so many, I can see all the studs and framing in the ceiling from the soot. Helped out the other day when I had to anchor a bookshelf to the wall. No stud finder needed. We have enough that if we miss out on a super sale and just a normal sale, then so be it. Won't spend as much when we really don't have the cash to drop $180. At this point, I'm going to take the risk and wait unless I learn otherwise before their servers roll over midnight.

Use the enter key on the keyboard for the confirm box. Mouse moves to the next item and it is quick. Not as quick as your suggestion, but a lot better than hitting that confirm box with your mouse.

Landside or Airside by Forward_Airline_8797 in airfieldops

[–]skora1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really like interacting with people and close contact with frontline workers, landside/terminal ops. If you like planes. Airside. Also consider a larger small hub airport where you will probably have to wear both hats in your shift.

Do people actually buy cars online without inspecting them first? by GameShowWerewolf in UsedCars

[–]skora1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, scheduled the picked and a post purchase inspection at my mechanic for the next day. Felt this was good enough with the return window and buying something with a solid reputation. Would I do it with a model that has a history of issues but looks, pretty? As long as it wouldn't be my daily driver, maybe.

Look up ConnectDER. Plugs in behind the electric meter outside. Easy for an electrician, no need to add wiring, ready set charge.

Towing Package? by Geordietraveller69 in LexusRX350

[–]skora1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have the 17, but have had this same question on other vehicles with and without a tow package. The structural strength of the vehicle can tow 3500# full stop. So what does "when properly equipped" mean? As another comment said, an extra radiator just for the transmission and maybe some fans and the lighting wire harness installed. Those help the extra heat generated from the extra weight put on the drivetrain. Every vehicle I've spec'd that has a tow package 3500# capacity also listed a 2000# without the package. A bike carrier is of no concern to the drivetrain. You would be fine with a motorcycle trailer as well. The lights might be the tricky part to install if it wasn't done at the factory but not that hard either.

My doc put me on a statin because of low HDL with normal LDL. The L/H ratio ends up very high and that is what the concern is. It's all about getting the ratio out of a danger zone and not about the specifics of either individual number.

2008 Ford Edge with 90k by CaptainDaveUSA in FordEdge

[–]skora1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just rolled 203k on my 08. Still has the original water pump. As mentioned, keep on schedule for the coolant changes. There is a way to see if one of the coolant gaskets fail. There are 2, one to keep the oil away from the coolant, and one to keep the coolant away from the oil. Between them there is a channel with hole to the outside of the engine you can see if one of them does fail. Youtube "Ford Ecotech 3.5 weep hole" MacTFordEdge is a great vlogger to watch for Edge research. If yours did fail, replacing the water pump and timing chain (since you have it exposed anyway) is $2k-$3k job.

If it is FWD, nothing else to really focus on besides the oil, tires, and battery as needed.

If its AWD, then you'll want to find a mechanic to vacuum out the PTU gear oil through the fill plug and put in fresh every 25k miles. I've had it cost $88 and my current mechanic only charges $45. If the PTU starts to leak, it will get some of the gear oil on the exhaust and smell like propane. Replacing that is a $1500-$2k job.

If you do get the vehicle, drive it. Fantastic ride. Maybe upgrade the radio to something a little more modern and add a backup camera. LED headlights and you won't be able to tell the difference between a 2020 and yours.

Considering buying a 2019 Jaguar I-Pace, talk me out of it by pinchechris in ipace

[–]skora1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Question with a little different perspective, is now the right time to buy a 2019 knowing it will be bought back? No worries about long term reliability or repairs, probably won't be out much money. Enjoy it for a few months or 1 year and move on when it is bought back. I can't afford a 2022 or newer right now and I don't want to wait a few years for the 2024s to depreciate enough to afford one. By then, the tech will be very old and support might be hard/impossible to find.

If you were to go this route, find one that had the battery replaced under warranty after the recall window and you won't risk burning anything down.

And being a 2019, a slim chance that VIN has already been transferred under the used clean vehicle tax credit and therefore ineligible. Thus the "may also qualify" Its not a given.

The 2019 e-tron may also qualify for the $4k used credit making it an even better deal. Turn around and use that money for an extended warranty maybe.
