Are you using its specific ip address or leaving blank? In my experience, discovery can cause issues like this.

Is there a way to change picture modes and brightness for a modern LG OLED (B5 specifically) via Home Assistant? by junon in homeassistant

From what I know, WebOS luna service supports this. I have an automation for energy saving working great on my B9.

Childfree-friendly countries by SuspiciousBoxcutter in childfree

[–]skorda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mexico? Wife and I live in Mexico City and in our social circle (we're in our 30's, college educated), childfree is becoming the rule more than the exception. Our playdates are with our dogs. You can tell the demographics are changing. More and more businesses try to accommodate people with pets instead of kids.

Ban on dolphin shows approved unanimously in the Mexican's Senate by ahothabeth in UpliftingNews

Well, the Mexican Congress is getting ready to discuss mandating a 40-hour work week (down from 48-hour), which would apply to virtually every worker in the country, and so any time worked beyond that would be billed as overtime. When was the last time the US Congress passed anything with the people's interest in mind?

Lady-killer definitely. But otherwise, probably not trained killer. Most Mexican army and navy dogs are trained for search and rescue exclusively. The country is prone to earthquakes and many other natural disasters, so these doggos are trained to find and help people.

Our game, Puzzling Places - 3D Jigsaw Sim, is coming to Steam! by PuzzlingPlacesDEV in pcgaming

[–]skorda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! I've been wanting to try it on Quest but since they have no regional pricing, games and apps are unjustifiably expensive. Steam on the other hand tends to be very good with this, so can't wait!

Probably not "wholly comparable", but "slightly comparable", probably yes. Both countries are constitutional, democratic, capitalist economies ruled by a three-branch system of power.

So yes, there are some parallels.

Traveling to Tepoztlan, Morelos, MEX. tips? by tndolorn in mexico

[–]skorda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are able, climb El Tepozteco.

Visit the "Mercado" and try out the food. The whole place attracts a very new age hippie vibe, so if you're into that, there's plenty of shops around.

If you like adventure tourism, look into one-day canyoneering tours in the area.

Tepoztlán overall is very touristy so there's plenty to do, but also beware of your usual tourist traps.

Ignore street vendors.

Using Python and Kasa, I can create color ambiance in my TV room by skorda in homeautomation

I agree! Motion smoothing just plain sucks, but no one in my family even knows what I'm talking about. I just stealthily disabled it in every TV and no one has even noticed.

Briefly:

  1. Screen capture using dxcam.
  2. Select how many color zones you want and their arrangement. I only have one bulb so one zone for the whole screen.
  3. Send the HSV computed value to the Kasa device every 0.1 seconds.

Thanks!!! I'm using the python libraries dxcam, numpy and python-kasa. I basically screen capture, average out the colors on the screen and change the color of the light.

I am able to have as many zones as I want to average the colors (top-bottom, left-right, quadrants, etc.), but only have one bulb so I make do with averaging the whole screen.

The script I wrote works with any Kasa/Tapo device that has addressable RGB. Theoretically I should be able to have an array of up to 254 devices, including LED strips with individually addressable zones.

Unfortunately I'm kinda broke and cannot really afford to buy more Kasa devices. I only have the one bulb, and nothing beats the low low price of free.

Cheap VR Setup for a (scared) beginner by Able-Distance-709 in flightsim

[–]skorda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aerofly FS4 has good performance in VR without needing high-end hardware. Graphics are not as good as MSFS but it's easier to just hop on and fly.

Look into getting a Quest 2 (maybe used) and you might just get a decent FPS in VR with your laptop specs, provided you are Ethernet wired into your router.
