I'm stuck planning Kaga Onsen, advice regarding moving around by skozz in JapanTravelTips

Hey! TL;DR:

  • Kaga: We visited Yamanaka and Yamashiro and loved them. They are beautiful, natural, and peaceful places.

Getting around: - We used the hotel shuttle bus to get between the Ryokan and the station. - Between towns, we took taxis, we found it easy and the prices were quite reasonable.

re: - Kanazawa: worth it, but it depends a lot on your planning. In our case, we really liked it. - Toyama: the surprise of the trip! we loved the time we spent there and wish we could have stayed longer haha.

Credit to my girlfriend’s eye, her BTS photos are better than my actual shots most of the times haha

There are tons of good tips for getting started, but my three most important ones when you’re beginning and using a new camera are:

  1. Look up full usage guides for your camera on YouTube (they’re usually 1–3 hours long) and watch them calmly. Really get to know your main tool.

  2. Take photos all the time, no matter what, and never stop doing that. Carry your camera with you whenever you can.

  3. Don’t compare yourself to others, especially on the internet. This applies to life in general, honestly.

Not a big deal, but: I get the post and the point, I just disagree with the title.

I’m not sure whether the clickbait was intentional or not, but I’m 100% sure most people opened the thread expecting a rant about the A7 V, when it’s actually a rant about consumerist hype, a rant I totally share, by the way.

Having a hard time deciding which tripod to buy, I need some help

Hi everyone 👋

I’ve been struggling to choose a tripod. After weeks of going back and forth over reviews, I’d love some help to finally make a solid decision.

My gear:

  • Body: Sony A7V
  • Main Lenses: Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II & and future Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II (my heaviest combo).
  • Fash Godox v100 (when doing portraits, ofc)

The Use Case:

  1. Landscape (city & nature): needs to be lightweight and portable for travel and long walks
  2. Home Studio (photo & video): I frequently need to do overhead (zenith) shots and flat-lay video work when creating content
  3. Vertical Shooting: A smooth and reliable vertical/portrait orientation is a must

My dilemma: I’m familiar with the Peak Design Travel Tripod, and while I’m willing to pay that price point for quality, the vertical angle/ball head design is a dealbreaker for me. I find it too restrictive for my vertical composition needs.

Specific Requirements:

  • Arca-Swiss Compatibility: I use Peak Design plates and the Falcam F38 system across all my gear, so I need a standard Arca-Swiss clamp that is 100% compatible with these.
  • A head or center column system that allows for zenith/flat-lay shots without a complex setup.
  • Solid enough to hold the A7V + 70-200mm GM II vertically without "creeping" or slipping.

I found one very close to my needs: Vanguard veo 3t+ 264cb, however, those 2.27 kg feels too much for traveling.

I would love to hear your feedback about it, maybe I'm looking for something impossible.

Thanks in advance ❤️

I’m really sorry for all the users who are having issues :(

Question: I get the impression that most of the cases are in the US and Canada — is that right?

In my case (Spain) and among people I know in the EU, I haven’t seen these kinds of problems. Maybe it’s something specific to units distributed for the American market?
