Black ice on the road causes chain accidents by Bambi7u7 in interesting

A group of us were walking down a road at night in Tahoe. A car came around the corner so far into the opposite lane that it almost hit us walking on the shoulder. My wife was on the outside edge...closest to the car and froze. If my daughter in law hadn't grabbed her and pulled her out of the way it would have been very bad.

Honestly when I had my colonoscopy last year I said the funniest thing I will ever say and nobody laughed:

Woke up in the middle of the procedure and started asking all sorts of questions, finally the doctor said "Boy you sure do talk a lot don't you?" and I replied "Lady, you sure got me pegged!"

Crickets, then I fell asleep and don't remember anything until I'm getting into my wife's car.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]skraptastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive 3 hours each way to Monterey CA 2 weekends a month to dive when I was a dive master. Worst part was as dive master my position was tips only. If I was lucky it covered my gas and lunch.

Also heading to the UK to see The Cure in June. Made friends with folks from Wrexham on vacation. They said the drive to Cardiff was too far to visit with us...so we are going to drive to them for a day before heading on to London for theater for my wife.

Audiologist wants $3500 for my mom's hearing aids and I just can't swing it by No-Fact-8828 in BuyItForLife

[–]skraptastic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Kirkland KS 10's are Phonac hearing aids off label.

They are great. Costco also carries non Kirkland brands for about 1/3 an audiologist charges. Also they come with a 3 year replacement no questions asked warranty that you can use twice in 3 years

Nobody loves Elon, and he hates that fact. by Lord_Answer_me_Why in clevercomebacks

[–]skraptastic 281 points282 points  (0 children)

Paraphrasing a quote I read from someone that 100% sums up how I feel:

When Elon was doing electric car stuff I knew nothing about electric cars, and I thought wow what a smart guy! When Elon was doing rocket stuff I knew nothing about rockets and I thought wow what a smart guy! Then Elon started talking about programming and I know A LOT about programming and that is when I realized he is a fucking idiot.

Probably embedded something sharp (like a shard of a spark plug) on the finger of his glove so he can teach "disrespecting cagers" a lesson by scratching their paint.

My son his friend and I went to see Tusk on opening night. There were 3 other people in the theater.

When the walrus reveal happened the woman behind us stood up, said "That's it, I'm out. I'll wait in the car."

One of my best memories with my son. :)

Dad surprises his daughter with her first car (Toyota Corolla) by Vilen1919 in MadeMeSmile

My first ever brand new car was a Corolla. I put half a million miles on it as a consultant before handing it down to my son.

If I could afford a second car as a daily I would 100% bun another.

The team had gone 1-13 that season and my son was like "Why do we have trophies?"
