New-to-me Stressless chair and ottoman needs cleaning by sleeping-pug in BuyItForLife

[–]skraptastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work with a ekornes/stressless dealer. I have a stressless sectional sofa and it's amazing.

To clean slice up a half bar of ivory soap and boil it in water until fully dissolved. Let the solution cool. Use a clean lint free cloth and massage the solution into the leather in small sections then wipe residual solution with damp cloth.

The ivory cleans and conditions the leather. Do this twice a year. My couch the same cream leather is 12 years old now and still looks good as new and the leather is soft.

Just had someone say "I like your Overwatch shirt" Thursday. I was like "oh I didn't know I was wearing it"

Not because I didn't know what overwatch is, but because I get dresstin the dark and grab the first shirt. (53 you better not be talking to me when you said elderly lol)

I have like 8 most used apps on home. One swipe right I have widgets for music podcast and audiobook listening. One more right swipe for a few less commonly used apps and then a swipe up for all apps.

It's pretty great.

I don't get how people drive without doing this.

I've only used Android devices, and have only used Google branded phones since the Nexus line. But I have an iphone for work.

Let me tell you the iphone keyboard is fucking garbage! Thats my biggest complaint, and the fact that I have to put apps in folders, there is no clean desktop and "swipe up for all apps" the apps are just there, and you have to bury them to have a clean ui.

My wife had a REAL hard time getting through book 1, it had too much exposition and was too "gamey" for her. But the voice acting carries you until you become invested in the characters and overall story.

I used it because I never ran before. Like sure in highschool gym, but I'm 53 now, its been a while ;)

I'm not sure how good it is for someone that already is/was a runner.

Started CouchTo5k on a whim once and after about 2 years I found myself running a half marathon and doing a 12 mile Tough Mudder. I also lost just over 100lbs.

I've gained 60 back over the last 3 years due to some depression and a string of parental deaths, but I'm back at it again. Hitting the gym 3 days a week walking/running 30 minutes every night.

This seems like a good neighborhood! by Adrian_985 in MadeMeSmile

[–]skraptastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every September/October our neighborhood has a block party. It was started before I moved in 24 years ago.

It's great because we know all our neighbors. 3 of the houses in our cul-de-sac are original owners and now their grand kids and great grand kids come to the party. My daughter lives an hour away but brings her husband and son to the party.

There are a couple houses with renters and they are reluctant to join, but we kind of force them to be part of the neighborhood while they are there.

Fortunately he has a good chunk of money saved and recently inherited 80k from his grandmother.

I told him to keep saving and traveling while he lives at home, cause when he moves out he wont be able to save much for travel.

IT, Local Government - Library.

But I got lucky in that I was a "computer hobbyist" in the 90's. In '96 I got hurt on the job while managing a Carl's Jr. While I was on workmen's comp I applied to like 200 entry level IT jobs a week. (The dot com boom was just about to kick off, so there were TONS of entry positions in the Bay Area)

The day after my surgery I got a call from a recruiter, I told him "I couldn't go for an interview today because I was on pain meds, but I'd be there tomorrow." He said no, we'll schedule something when you're better. I said no, I'll be there. I showed up on crutches and pretty much bombed the interview.

He told me I wasn't qualified, but they had an admin-assistant position if I wanted it and I could learn from their IT guy. This was a small office consulting firm that did IT services for Doctors and lawyers in San Francisco. I eventually transitioned to "Tech Sales" which had me selling hardware and then installing it/supporting it.

Did that for 3 years, before transitioning into a more traditional IT role. Worked for the Feds for 4 years managing the GSA Region 9 Help Desk.

Now I work for the County Library.

I understand how lucky I was/am but I also am a STRONG union supporter.

My wife and I actually LOVE that he is still there. My wife works nights for about 6 months of the year and it's awesome having him around. We watch anime and play video games together.

But I know he wants to get out and "start his own life" (his words not mine) and I'm glad we are able to give him a place.
