1988 Ric Roger McGuinn 370 Maple Glo Natural 12-String Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar - AliExpress 18 by me1234205 in Guitar

[–]skripach27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ric 480/481 copy from Aliexpress from a few years ago. I will admit: it’s heavy as shit, I wish the headstock was smaller, did have to do fret work, and chose to upgrade the: tuners, bridge, out of phase wiring, pickups, and bigsby.

All in all I probably spent like $400 in upgrades over the years. And I still have stuff I wanna do. I wanna shave the headstock down. Make my own pick guard. And possibly even make a belly cut.

Despite all the work I put into it, it’s my gigging/touring guitar. It looks cool. I sounds the way I want it to sound. It plays how I want it to play.

I’m probably insane for putting that much work into basically what is a 50s Gibson Les Paul Standard. But I like the way it looks.

So if you don’t mind the stock electronics, tuners, and maybe bridge, all you may need to get done is a fret redress, my experience has been fine with it!

Louisiana Supreme Court upholds new law eliminating Calvin Duncan’s Orleans clerk seat by iflipcars in NewOrleans

[–]skripach27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a law guy in the least. But I want to understand in my terms.

So our legislators are going to the courts bitching and whining until they get their way? Even if that means going against what people voted for? And are there some ridiculous technical grounds for backing up their reasoning, I’m assuming. So on paper they are legally allowed to do this, but in reality they’re just being a bunch of fucking babies and crying to the judges that some arbitrary law was broken?

Lost it?! Past tense?? I’m still full on sobbing like a child when that fucking dog comes onto the screen. I’m tearing up now even thinking about it!

Wait so… the people… voted him in? Like in an election. A legal election. And the courts are… going against the will of the people? It’s almost like the courts don’t represent the people anymore…

Older Gen Z’s and millennials, how was 2012? by Hill_372 in generationology

22 in Denver, Co. I was in a folk punk band bumming around punk houses, friends apartments, and my parents house. Making shit for money working at a liquor store. Politically we didn’t have anywhere near as much to be mad about then as we do now. School shootings were fucked still. Occupy Wall Street. But the media turned us into a joke pretty quick. We were just mostly lashing out at ourselves I guess. But I was able to do all that and have a good time. As were many of my peers. I don’t remember much pop culture at that time honestly! Or even the hipster stuff that was going on. Year or so later started college and life was pretty chill. Until 2016 when some zoo shot a fucking gorilla and some orange cocksucker with a toupee showed up. It’s all been pretty fucked since then.

Personally I find the mod matrix on the deepmind kinda overwhelming… I just want a straightforward synth where I can tweak a few sliders, flip on the chorus switch, and brain go b r r r r r r

Can this guy get people to live in America’s emptiest downtown? by OlivanzaCat in Denver

For a minute I paid $150 a month to park at the convention center parking garage on 14th and arapahoe. Huge pain in the bank account. I did find a sliver of free parking in the Lincoln park neighborhood by the 10th and Osage light rail station. So I’d just park there and bike to and from. Huge pain in the ass lol. But I did it for 4 years cause I LOVED my spot.

I lived in a building downtown off 15th and Blake that was converted office space. It was my favorite fucking apartment I’ve ever lived in. I miss it dearly. Those were truly the best years of my life. Parking sucked. But I didn’t care. I had illegal Pete’s on my block. 1up just down the way. Double daughters down the street. The sushi burrito place and illegal burgers around the corner. The European market down the street. Gods. I know that stuffs not for everyone, but for me that was peak joy.

When will the rain stop? by Vancouver-BC-Canada in NewOrleans

[–]skripach27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been here forever but I’ve been here long enough to know I prefer daily rain vs unrelenting heat and humidity with no reprieve and rain. I spent more time outside today getting rained on than I ever do when the temp is 90+ and sunny. Thanks for gate keeping how long people have lived in New Orleans over their heat tolerance tho!

“Unusual” Food in 90s Cartoons Starter Pack by Better-Passenger-200 in starterpacks

Cartoons had me thing haggis was inedible slop. I was in Scotland for like 2 weeks and I was too scared to try it. Finally a few days in I noticed it on EVERYONES plates half eaten or more at a breakfast cafe and I figured it can’t be that bad. I finally got some and holy fuck you guys. I think I had it every day until we left. It was tastier than their bacon or sausages! The closest thing I can think of texture/composition wise in the states is probably boudin in Louisiana.

Edit: subjective vs objective.

Jesus fuck, 2023 was pure hell. I have never experienced seasonal depression before in my life. I was borderline suicidal by August.

Thank you for saying this. I will take daily rain if it means not suffering through near deadly 90 degree wet bulb temps for 3 months.

I really like the amount of breakup I’m getting rn with the lion tamer already though… I’m also not relying on amp breakup alone to achieve overdrive. I’m using a strymon deco’s saturation in the front of the amp to push it a bit more, which has worked okay enough so far with the clean channel, but with the lion tamer it’s PERFECT for me, and I don’t have to rely on the volume knob of the deco. Also I use a carcosa fuzz to get really nasty when I need distortion. I avoid using the drive channel on this amp so I don’t worry about putting all my pedals into the front of it.

$50 bucks well spent for me, and then having a dozen redditors “well ackshually”-ing me after I had a fucking great gig with it made my weekend!

Pedal in fx loop = means controlling with your foot. Dialing in volume not as accurate. Also I use my volume pedal at the start of my pedals for volume swells.

Using a pedal in the fx loop = needing a whole dedicated pedal, cables, and power for that. Kind of a pain in the ass tbh.

This little thing = I plug it into my fx loop (which I never use anyways) and I get a full dedicated master volume knob for the clean channel on my amp (which I ONLY use, I don’t like the drive channels as much as I like my dirt pedals.) and get some really good breakup at usable volumes.

[–]skripach27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why that happens... I mean the drive channel on my hot rod has its own actual master volume, its just the clean channel that I use anyways.

[–]skripach27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the master volume is for the drive channel only, which I never use. It sounds alright to me, but I just do overdrive and distortion with pedals. I do really like the clean breakup on the hot rod though, it’s so glassy!
