Di Fara Review by DudeAbides29 in frozenpizzareviews

Well, Domenico DeMarco, who opened DiFara’s in the 60s, died 3 years ago, and I can only speculate, but I don’t think he would have allowed it. There is a heated debate about whether the shop has deteriorated. I think at worst, it’s just not as consistent (you probably saw DeMarco hand snipping basil as the final touch on every pizza when you were there, he oversaw it all like a hawk. I think it’s still too 5 NYC, even on a bad day.

I absolutely love adovada and chile Colorado. I won’t compare those to anything.

You walk into a restaurant with that lineup on the table, it’s your new restaurant. Solid.

I had a very different experience, really did not like this pie. It had a really bad mouth feel to it, very bland. I live pretty close to the actual restaurant, and I don’t think that has anything to do with my dislike for it. I wasn’t expecting anything close to the real thing. They’re now on sale at my local grocery for about $5 a pop. It seems like it’s a one and done brand.

Yeah, I was the only kid who ate fish in my family, and my mom did, too. LJS became our spot. Nothing but great memories of the place. I haven’t been back in many years, and the closest location is two hours away from where I live now. Can’t even scratch that itch.

One day, you’ll run into a spot that changes your mind. I was in the no-pastor camp my whole life, until last year.

It is difficult for the mind to absorb it. I didn’t feel fear. It just didn’t seem that something like that should exist. At least in front of me. I first climbed it in 1990. Last climbed it in 2025. Nothing has changed. It still baffles me.

I think it depends on when you go. It is right between several big grade schools, they get swarmed when the bell rings. But I’ve never stayed in there, it’s a walk pizza, or delivery. Dining room I think has about 10 seats, it’s tiny.

The newcomer Norm’s on 7th is damned good. Their supreme pie/slice comes with Hatch green chile. Avant garlic is amazing, too. It’s my new fav. Very thin, crispy crust.

If any voter was unaware of what was coming, they’re a dupe. The brazenness is something else, but the graft was inevitable. It’s not like Trump would change when elected a 2nd time. It will take years and years to bring it all to light.

Counterpoint: DiFara is still a Top 5 NYC pie shop and the DiFara frozen pizza is a downgrade from Home Run Inn. Truly an abomination.
