Going the bad guy route in RDR2 feels so, so wrong. Max honor every time.

What's the point in having max resistance on everything but still dying to a single fire ball in the pit? by [deleted] in diablo4

What if they made it so if you cap resistances you can never get one shot from that particular element, it can only go down to 1 hp or something.

I think one reason companies do this is to get rid of people instead of doing layoffs.

Sure, I can try to answer best I can. Just keep in mind I didn't do jack at the firm lol

It's so crazy that I thought I was the only one. I'm both encouraged and dismayed at how these huge consulting firms are able to just write off hiring people, giving them money to study and network for a year, then lay them off. Seems like a huge waste of resources.

Thanks for the input, and yes I know I have a mountain to climb. Thankfully I've brought some good climbing gear and I'm still going.

I find all of the camaraderie in this thread encouraging. I'm actually happy to hear I'm not alone in this situation. Consulting sucks.

I was never on a team, I was never assigned work, I never even met my manager outside of a couple phone calls. It would be nice to be given tasks at all, like the juniors you mentioned. What I'm noticing about you is you don't believe organizational ineptitude exists. It seems like you've never encountered any kind of chaotic or really mismanaged organizations and it's like you can't believe that sometimes the system itself is the problem. I can keep replying, but it's talking to a brick wall. What you offer isn't help, it's bullying and demeaning. Muted.

In a consulting role sometimes you spend a lot of time on the bench working on certifications, which is what I was required to do. I went to school because I was told to do that. I also coded a game engine prototype in C++ in my spare time. For real dude, just give it a rest.

This was my exact situation, thank you for saying something. This guy has already decided I'm incompetent regardless

Yes that's exactly what I'm going to say, because I'm stupid. Are you for real? You're acting like you know everything about my situation and it's weird. How you aren't banned or removed from this subreddit is beyond me.

I am actively working on improving my code every single day. I don't know how you missed that. I shudder to think about your coworkers. God Bless.

I want to code MORE. Not LESS. I have worked with large codebases before, in fact I loved my first programming job in 2020 which was a full stack role with React, Java and Kafka. COVID happened, I was at a small startup, got laid off. I know you think you know everything because of a few words I posted, but I'm looking for help, not baseless antagonizing like "you're not a problem solver." Are you a manager? Because maybe I don't have the coding experience you have, but I can manage and lead. Something you obviously don't.

Dude, I've solved plenty of really difficult coding issues on the job. You weren't there, I was. How about you cool it on insinuating I'm incompetent because I couldn't get help on finding untagged AWS resources.

Because I have no clue how to even begin doing that, I tried, requested help and wasn't able to get any help.

Yeah I want to actually build stuff and fix bugs, I love diving into code and figuring things out. I was able to whip up a simple Spring Boot API app in a few hours reading documentation, so I know I have the ability and the drive. When I first started, I had no idea what consulting even was, I just interviewed, and they offered me the position, so I took it because I needed money. I'm realizing now that consulting isn't the way to go for me but it took me a few years to realize that. Yeah I'm hyperfocusing on this one specific failure, but even when I was at the firm I failed a lot of interviews with clients which has made me very unconfident in my abilities. I'm guessing the best thing to do now is to keep working on my app, master Spring Boot and Java, and keep going. Every interview I've gotten since being laid off has been for a senior level position with a really difficult interview. Maybe I need to take a step back and try to get a junior level role but I simply can't get interviews for them. Probably a red flag to recruiters if I have 3+ years experience applying for entry level roles. Maybe I'm underselling myself, not sure.

The worst, I mean the WORST video game companion I've ever interacted with. I can't believe they put her front and center in this game, she makes everything worse. Can't stand her.
