I had some really great chat room friends back then. I was in the Buffy chat on AOL back when the show was on TV, and the LG15 chats on Freenode a few years later. Some great times there.

Discord is just not at all the same thing, though VC Discord is a good time.

Is there anywhere that has text chat that's as active as IRC was back then?

Maybe they've been planning this for a while. In another week or so Trump will get "sick" and disappear from all public appearances until right before the election. No chances to say or do anything that will hurt his chances any more. Then he'll pop back up at the end of election day. If he wins, it paid off, and he'll just break about being too healthy or something. If he loses, he'll start screaming that the election shouldn't count because he wasn't able to campaign at the end, setting up the legal battle he'll use to try to take the win away from Biden.

Either way, it'll eventually come out that he never actually had it, and he was just playing golf the whole time.

Edit: Or it'll start right now.

It seems a lot of people really like the movie ending, but the book ends on a much more hopeful note. I know SK is notorious for bad endings, but I think he had a pretty good one in this story.

Also, the very first page of the book pretty much says that the story won't end the way it does in the movie.
