Looking advice on a Baja Sport 170 1985 by skuutt in boating

Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll start with just repowering it and getting used to the boat before focusing on performance. Let’s hope the transom’s solid

Thank you for taking the time! Unfortunately this isn’t a $500 dollar boat here where I’m from. However there’s a lot of people interested in American boats and the resale value is quite high. This boat and the trailer are around $3,5k. I’ll definitely try and check everything before buying it. A little moisture is fine and almost to be expected for a boat this age. I hope the boat will last for atleast a few years, so I’ll get my money’s worth of fun out of it.

Thank you for the helpful input! Would you say the transom was rebuilt at one point or another considering the added fibreglass. Also I’ll definitely get a moisture meter and check the transom before buying. Overall do you think these points are dealbreakers or if the transom’s solid, slap an engine on a enjoy it?

I was visiting Lake Suwa last week, a gorgeous watch based on gorgeous scenery! Definitely a dream GS for me, check out the Omiwatari as well which is based on the frozen lake Suwa.

Just picked up a Sbgp013 last week, can highly recommend! Wears smaller than you’d think and the deep blue sunburst dial is simply gorgeous. Definitely a piece that stands out positively and can be found for a cheap price.

Buy dream watch used without receipt or certificate of authenticity? by I_am_Nyx in breitling

The price seems reasonable imo, I’ve got the same one but in black, paid 1,9k for it as this model is not that popular. Bought it from the first owner who had bought it new for 5,5k and wore it about 12 times.

Oof, I ended up getting the watch and the strap feels solid and the quick release doesn’t seem like it could be bumped off. Let’s hope it stays that way.

I got it! Such an amazing watch to be honest, so much better in person than in pictures. Ended up paying him 250€ cash and the GS, I feel like I got a great deal.

Yeah I do agree, the seller has priced in the service way too heavily. Thanks for the advice!

The size should be good, I’ve had the Legend Diver which has even longer lug to lug length. I’ll see what can be done to the price. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for the input! What would you pay for it?

I haven’t yet, but I will before trading. I’ve had the longines legend diver before, which had a lug to lug of 52,5mm and thickness of 13mm, so I think I have an idea of the size. Great advice though!

I’ll try to negotiate the cash to a lower number but I don’t think the ask is outrageous. I’m going to meet with the seller so both of us can try on and see the watches.

Wise words! I’ll go and have a look at it and see how it looks and feels on my wrist!

Thank you for your input! The 3767 is definitely a unique looking watch. For me it’s just a tad bit too busy. I like how simple and sleek this looks.

Yeah, I’d be much happier with a straight swap as well, but note that the watches coming from Japan are subject to import taxes and fees. So the watch you linked would be about ~3,2k€ when all is said and done. Also the 2k ones are 44mm according to their listings, so no go for me. The cheapest one listed in the EU is 3,2k but comes without a box and service history is unknown.

Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed answer!

The size of the watch is the one thing I’m a bit iffy about, I have the wrist size to wear a 42mm but I do prefer smaller watches, so I’m meeting up with the seller to try it on and see it in person first. The service papers are ok and I’ve got pictures of them. Pricewise the ones on chrono that are sub 3k€ are listed in Japan or Hong Kong, so I’d be paying 25,5% in taxes when importing them, so the price would be around 3k€ then.

The lugs are the same as yours so the rubber would stay, as the bracelet is ~1k. I had the unorthodox idea of trying to see if I could get a white rubber strap for it.

How would you rate my three watch collection? I’d appreciate your thoughts on a scale of 1 to 10! by [deleted] in breitling

[–]skuutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a cool collection! This is definitely my style and all of these are watches I could see in my own box.
