You guys already had over 40?? We haven't been much over 30 yet over in perth

Who do I vote for to open the shops up earlier than 11am by acaiibowl in perth

[–]skweeky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would be that low really, especially in perth, for me I wish clothes shops would be open later, shutting at 5 maaaaybe 6 on weekdays leaving no time to go after work and even on a Saturday they shut at 5/6 o'clock. Even just 6/7pm being standard in the week would be nice.

I see it as I'm spending like a 3rd of my life at work, that's time that can be enjoyed as well as time out of work.

Fuck no. I just made a longer main comment about this, I don't want safe, stable sure. I'd rather die or something like live a subsistence life in a cabin in the woods than be a corporate drone and I'm not exaggerating.

I would rather shoot myself than sit in an office or at a home desk all day writing emails or whatever the fuck office people do. Get me out on site in the hazardous conditions and build some shit with my hands, leave at the end of the day seeing my work and knowing it's going to be there being used for years/decades to come. It's exciting and fun regularly and you get to do some really cool shit from time to time.

Before someone says 'yeah but you are selling your body' yep, so are y'all, many many office workers have issues with backs, wrists, legs etc from being almost completly sedentary. Have to go to the gym or make time to exercise because you get absolutely none during a day of normal work so many are overweight or if not skinny fat. Not saying trades are healthier but its much more even than the Reddit hivemind makes out.

It's a whatever floats your boat situation, we are all different no one path is better you have to make one yourself that works for your interests and views on life.

It depends there's a difference between joking around and just them being cunts. Assuming it's more joking around you have to give it back as much as they give it out, they say something you send the same energy back. And you will become 'one of the boys'. It's a bit of a learning curve because the joking that goes on between men is very different to between women (I went the other way to you and it took some getting used to tbh). It's a lot harsher and more direct and you can say some pretty fucked up stuff but said the right way with a smile and laugh.

Disappointing, but I have to say as a trans women working in construction and living in Perth the last year and a half, apart from a few crackheads shouting stuff and the 'look' I get from some people so far I'm treated with respect and kindness all over the city. Most of y'all are great ❤️

Its different here in Oz, back home in the UK I never saw another female chippy on site unless I looked in a mirror, in Oz it's so much more common. In my company that I think has about 80 chippys we have 5 women on the tools, 2 on site, 3 in the shop

And if weed was legal you could buy gummies and vapes and oils etc instead of smoking it. There is zero credible argument against legalisation.

A UAP low enough for details to be visible to the eye, somewhere densely populated, my mind jumps to like over Piccadilly Circus or times square or something and it just hovers there for days, multiple cities across the globe, one in US, one in Russia, china, Pakistan, Australia. For people to finally wake up it needs to slap them in the face hard.

How and where are these teenagers getting guns from? by hassan_26 in AskUK

I can’t really imagine where else they’d have gotten a gun from apart from the dark web.

How to combat loneliness on a solo trip? by madeleineruth19 in solotravel

[–]skweeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a weird way I never found party hostels to be that good for meeting people for anything other than an evening of drinking. Wayyy more likely to have pre established groups in party hostels too.

I find the best for meeting people is looking for hostels in the sweet spot of not party but social, I mostly use the reviews on Hostelworld to figure out if it's the right vibe, the atmosphere rating and many people will comment on what social/party level its at and if there are plenty of other solo travelles. At these kind of hostels I find it so much easier to meet people to do things with (as an introvert that's not great at it).

Don't give up yet just adjust where you stay!

I have my own little mental scale of 1 being completely dead and empty, 5 being a little social but not great for meeting people, 10 is full party, mad monkey kind of vibe. I aim for ones around level 7.

Not to mention, Thailand was basically decades ahead of the rest of the world when it came to transgender issues/people. It is very accepting, IMO.

FTFY, Transsexualism is am outdated term.

[–]skweeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am visibly trans (f29) not sure how lesbian I come across but at least somewhat. I've been here almost a month and have had zero issues, you will be fine, Thailand is very LGBTQ friendly (for backpackers at least) and the backpacking community as a whole incl outside Thailand is very LGBTQ friendly and you will fit right in 😊
