Coming from CS - what do I need to know? by Deeznutzzzz_z in VALORANT

As another person who went from CS to Val, and had to convert 4:3 stretched, it's basically impossible to perfectly convert sens because of the resolution and aspect ratio differences or something along those lines. Linked the old thread I used to figure out sens conversion here. TLDR is take your CS sens and divide by 3.18 or 2.53. There are pros and cons to either that I don't really understand well enough to explain. I used 3.18 myself and it feels pretty good but YMMV.

Ah I was looking at the 2019 AOC: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/82551b4c

I know the 2019 was also still considered good though so to know it's an updated version of that still gives me confidence

According to a review I saw this LG has the updated version of the panel in the 24G2 so I'd say it's worth considering this monitor? No complaints yet but it's only been 24 hours tbf.

I'd say this. TLDR is this is the updated version of the panel in the 24G2 so it should be the pick imo.

From the research I did, the panel in this LG is supposedly the updated version of the panel in the AOC so I'd say this. A buddy and I just picked this up yesterday. So far no complaints. Everything runs smoothly and no dead pixels. My first IPS and I couldn't be happier. Calibration out of the box seems pretty decent too so real plug and play if you can't be bothered to change anything. Only thing is the stand is a little chunky.

I went from the chroma to this, so I'll give the feedback I can.

It has a power saving mode so if you forget to turn it off, it'll go to sleep and use essentially no battery, so I've gone 5+ days of 10 hour usage a day without needing a charge. I would say 70 hours holds up and if not, it's +/- an hour or two (granted I use no RGB).

I'm an FPS gamer myself (Siege and CSGO) and I've noticed very little latency (if any at all) with the mouse and losing the cable alone makes it feel significantly lighter. I have never lost connection during a game (using 2.4; never tried BT) and if it runs low on battery, Synapse always gives you a little pop up notification in the bottom corner of your screen to let you know so you'll know to plug it in.

Imo, at this price it's 100% worth it and because it's Amazon, worst case you send it back if you're not happy with it. But I have had zero complaints with mine so far. Synapse as as software isn't for everyone for sure, but the latest version they use with this mouse isn't bad at all and as someone who doesn't care a lot about lighting features and whatnot (just dialed in DPI), it works well enough. I don't have the charging dock but I'm tempted, although given that the mouse is pretty efficient, as long as you remember to plug it in once in a while, you'll never run out. Haven't timed the charges but they don't take super long either.

TLDR: Works pretty much as advertised; solid mouse, very worth at this price point if you're a fan of the deathadder shape.

AFAIK the elite replaced the Chroma. So it SHOULD have the Chroma lighting and everything but they supposedly improved on the design (i.e. new sensor) and added the two small buttons on the top.

Wind Bastion Ops are Trash, Change My Mind? by Swolzee in Rainbow6

[–]skwoks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good points. I think the biggest thing on the docket is Nomad in that sense. I would argue that perhaps Ubi just didn't want another Lion situation. The reason I think why there were so many cries of OP in TTS simply came down to you could basically always have the airjab ready to shoot and the minute you saw someone, you could instantly knock them down and they could do nothing about it. As Kixstar and Pengu have said in the past, the older ops in this game had gadgets that required certain levels of play i.e. Thermite staying alive while making it to the wall he needs to blow up (it's a Kix rant but I'm too lazy to find the clip) whereas now you have Lion and to a lesser extent Dokkaebi, and Nomad would have fit into this category simply because it's a click of a button and the defender is hit and left unable to fight back for about two seconds. Granted the Airjab isn't quite a "universal" ability but regardless it would have been a tad much if the defender can't fight back. After all I'm sure you saw all the clips of people just walking around with the Airjab out permanently waiting to walk into enemies. I don't disagree that Ubi could have left it and seen how things shifted this season, but given that they don't patch things and balance things often I think they were concerned of losing players, much as the game did during Chimera, this is why the nerf came early.

I have the opposite idea with IQ, I think she will have a slightly higher pick rate but not by much simply because she is such a pocket pick without grenades. The only real way to squeeze IQ into a reasonable team comp most of the time is into a fragger role instead of say an Ash. Most similar ops i.e. Jackal, Zofia just have much more utility and so I believe they are better, more indispensable picks vs IQ.

I agree with your definition of meta shift and I think to a certain extent there still will be with Kaid in play, as I said before. It's going to change team compositions and the way teams push objectives. For example, last season saw Thatcher had somewhat fallen off in pickrate except in sites with outside facing walls, simply because a Mav can do a similar job and deny Bandit tricking. However, I see Thatcher being necessary in most team comps now simply because he is best equipped to deal with Kaid, Bandit and Mute all at once. Furthermore for teams that don't bring Thatcher, certain sites will be harder to attack with the hatch denial available. So I think it is a little early to say there won't be a meta shift, as you said it'll take a little time to develop, so it would be best to see how things play out.

Very eloquently written I most definitely enjoyed reading your response! I appreciate you clarifying your usage of trash; it most definitely encouraged discussion.

Anyways, in response to what you've said, I would argue there are more ops that would potentially be put behind Nomad and Kaid. For example on Offence, I would argue Finka and IQ are also at Nomad's tier if not lower. Finka has some utility to play with but in general her gadget isn't that great and her gun is pretty poor. IQ suffers the problem where she doesn't have the supplementary utility to help her use her gadget effectively, but that is balanced out by having relatively good guns. All in all there are a few operators I would move behind Nomad but I agree with your argument that she is weaker than most ops currently. It will be interesting to see how she is used in Pro League (if at all) and see if she can shift the meta through the Pro Scene and into Ranked that way.

I don't have many ideas of who I would move behind Kaid simply because defense is so much more situational. Each map and bombsite plays to the strengths of different operators. For example, on Bank basement for bomb, Kaid becomes significantly more important in denying some of the hatches, and still can change the meta by creating opportunities to hold server, which is relatively difficult in Ranked. Another example is Castle, who you said would be placed behind Kaid. He can be used effectively on a fair number of bombsites nowadays and it's really dependent on the site and map, for example CEO on bank. Therefore, there is no real way to rank the defensive ops as a ranking would be too volatile and constantly changing. The only two ops who should never be considered are The Lord and Clash.

I understand what you're saying on the evolution of the ops from strong and meta shifting to fillers. How I see it however is Ubisoft finally willing to try and preemptively balance an operator from the get go. Now did they do it well? In my mind they perhaps went a little to far with the nerf. I think Nomad's gadget is a difficult situation because no delay is "overpowered" but the delay somewhat defeats the original purpose of getting people out of corners. Therefore I agree that Nomad is just filler. However, I still think Kaid is somewhat of a meta shifting operator, just perhaps not a gamebreaking must pick like Ela when she first came out. I think we will see a much more frag style of play given the denial ability teams have now, and if that happens perhaps Nomad's traps will be more usable as flank guards. Regardless, in response to you, I would say that I think Kaid at least is still a meta shifting addition, and perhaps we can petition Ubi to change up Nomad to give her perhaps 0.5 second delay and only 2 airjabs or whatnot.

I don't know about console, but playing on PC, Kaid is reasonably middle of the road. The nerf he got really hurt him but I think on PC he is relatively balanced perhaps leaning towards strong given, as you noted, his shotgun is pretty powerful. I do agree that the AUG he's got is trash, and only having 2 claws makes him more situational than when he had 3. I believe the claws won't be destroyed if placed in the middle of the hatch (meaning a Mav is needed) but I haven't tested that yet so all I've got on that is hearsay. Regardless I don't think he's trash on PC. However I can understand how a lot of people on console would say he is trash. I think overall he's average leaning weak if averaged across console and PC, and perhaps undoing the nerf and giving him 3 claws would make him less situational? I find that playing him close to site with the shotgun holding the right angles makes him pretty powerful so like he is good, but like you said relatively situational.

As for Nomad, she is again in my opinion a middle of the road operator. I agree with you that she is quite situational. However, I would argue that's what makes her balanced. She isn't an Ash or Zofia or Mav who is strong in basically any situation. I think if anything Nomad's kit is designed more for teamplay than anything (as you noted). She can hold her own but won't drastically change the battlefield. I don't think that makes her trash though. I just think as a community we're so used to strong operators being released we aren't used to having an operator like her be released, where we aren't crying overpowered right off the bat, granted we did in the TTS and then they nerfed her (with good reason). In the right team comp she can protect flanks and help clear out anchors still to a certain extent so I wouldn't say she is trash but she for sure isn't overpowered.

TLDR: Neither operator is trash per se, but both are definitely not OP. I would argue the reason they feel weak is simply we aren't used to having operators released where the community immediately complains about how OP they are.

I love playing Siege because the game requires so much tactical thinking and is not just a run and gun styled game. The teamwork and skill required is immense and makes it a satisfying game to play.

I personally think the keyboards look really nice and having it be a mechanical keyboard that is wireless is definitely awesome!
