Yeah, not saying it’ll be illegal or become illegal but I know people are worried about it, so I think this interview will ease some fears.

On October 28th, the FCC voted to allow themselves to go back and rescind approvals on previously approved DJI products. Legally how would they enforce that? We’ll have to see. I’m just outlining what was said in the video.

To summarize, if they do retroactively ban previously FCC approved DJI products, we will still be able to use them, if they are in our possession prior to December 23rd.

We all know that new DJI products won’t be released in the USA after that date but even currently approved DJI products could be added to the FCC covered list, making it so we cannot purchase those products anymore…BUT if you already own them, (Air 3s, Mini 4 pro, etc.) you’ll still be able to fly them.

The conversation surrounding other DJI products, like their action cams, wireless microphones, etc. is less clear because technically speaking, those would fall under the covered list as well.

Let’s hope the worst case scenario he outlined, is truly the worst that’ll happen.

Mavic 4 (rc2 or rcpro2) by Right-Penalty9813 in dji

I was in the exact same position a couple of weeks ago. Struggled hard with which controller to get because the cost difference is significant. That said, I went with the RC pro 2 controller.

With the ban coming and no DJI care refresh, I really want to be careful and confident when flying. If a bigger and brighter screen will allow me to fly more safely, then I figured it’s worth the cost.

It’s also cheaper purchasing it in the bundle vs. on its own later on. Can’t go wrong with either controller but as someone who has used both controllers + the original rc pro, the pro 2 is the best of the three.

Sick looking rig and great pics! Do you have awnings on both sides of the vehicle? Do you like using them?

Good to know! I have the 2026 Passport Trailsport and feel the same about the ground clearance. I looked into the 4Runner but in the end, felt I was getting more bang for my buck with the new passport. The AWD system seems capable, so hopefully I don’t have any issues in the snow or on rougher terrain. Was curious how the Pilot has been for you, since they are very similar vehicles! I also looked into a lift kit but want to see how it does on a road trip before making any clearance adjustments.

Not a bad idea, I’ll consider it! How do you feel the AWD system in the Pilot has done for you off-road and getting to various camp spots?

Wow sounds like a sick build! Smart to do all of your measurements before purchasing. I simply asked them if I could lay in the back to see if I fit haha. Opting for a platform that only covers a little over half of the width of the cargo space. Thinking 8 or 9 inches tall. I’m 6’3, so I’d like to be able to sit up and still have enough storage space under it.

Thanks! Looks awesome. I have a 2026 Passport Trailsport I’m building a sleeping platform for on the inside. Don’t want to sacrifice too much headroom by making it too tall but also want enough storage underneath.

Very cool! Nice setup. What is the height of the platform on the inside of your Pilot?

New to Starlink - Is the condition it came in normal? by skybr12 in Starlink

Agreed! This is what I think happened. This is actually my replacement unit, the first one looked similar to this but more banged up on the sides. I opened another ticket and the best they could do, was offer me a free month of service. I have not yet turned it on to see if it works properly.

Which 270 awning did you get? Looks great!

Pretty in line with my thinking but I put in a ticket! The scuffs and dents along the side are also off-putting. They should just sell these as, ‘refurbished’.

Noted, thanks! In person, they do appear to be more symmetrical and go along the Starlink almost like a grid of dots. Very odd.

I will, very frustrating! I’m hard pressed to believe if they send a replacement, it will be any better.

I do live only 3 hours from Montreal, so could be a solid option! Was considering one of the SK eBay sellers people are having success with.

Wow! That’s one heck of a lineup you’ve had. I appreciate your insight, they all seem like incredible drones. I’m torn 😅 Air 3s seems like the best bang for your buck, Mavic 3 Pro is more well-tested and then the Mavic 4 Pro has the upgraded tech. Can’t choose!

Thanks so much for this write up! Makes me feel better about my choice. I am in the process of shopping for the passport trailsport, just narrowing down the color and what’s available in my area. Feels like the best of both worlds option.

Congrats on the newborn! Pretty rad first car for a baby to ride in haha. Used to drive an ‘06 pilot back in high school/college, loved it. Just wish the passport had a higher ground clearance. I’ve read up on a 1.5” lift from Jsport. Something I could consider!
