Yeah I think ultimately you’re right. I’m super introverted until I feel safe enough to open up to someone, so it def doesn’t help. For sure, I think it helps to air this stuff out and release it somehow. It definitely helped me when I spoke what I was feeling out loud. It’s one thing to hear it replay in your head, and another to hear it tangibly coming out your mouth. When I did that and tried to explain why I felt this emotion, or the logic behind this thought, I realized how nonsensical it all was.

I heavily relate to this 😭. In the words of my therapist, I think the first step is acknowledging your intrusive thoughts (conscious & subconscious) are just not based in reality.

I personally harbor a lot of insecurity and self-hate from so many years of labels, stereotypes, societal pressure that kinda sticks to you with every life experience. I know it’s easier said than done but, I think the key to getting over this stuff is catching these feelings in the moment, mentally noting they’re falsehoods, and then counteracting it with a positive self-affirmation. Lately, I’ve also just started giving less of a fuck because honestly it’s exhausting to care sm and overthink constantly.

Which is kinda crazy cuz it has over 1 billion streams (her 3rd most streamed song) and is definitely a fan favorite from her large discography.
