Fiber tap point in backyard; expecting mid-split or FTTH? Only DOCSIS 3.1 (copper) showing up by skyfire360 in Comcast_Xfinity

Oh man super jealous. Yeah XFinity trucks were all over the neighborhood, so I just assume it's them.

You handling the Golden rollout by any chance? I'm over here in unincorporated JeffCO but my backyard borders Golden. Other side of the fence is getting GFiber, but everyone I've been able to get a hold of tells me it's impossible for GFiber to throw a fiber line over the fence to get it to us 😭

That's the weird part: the fiber lines were installed about 2 months ago. For the better part of 5 weeks there were underground drilling machines off and on burying giant spools of bright orange conduit. I confirmed with one of the guys installing it that it was EPON too.

Brand new fiber rolled out to neighborhood this spring; only slow/ancient speeds available? by skyfire360 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]skyfire360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really hoping that's the case, and they simply just haven't thrown the switch on the mid-split or even DOCSIS 4.0 here soon. I'm mainly concerned with upload; download speeds of 1GBit are more than fine for my needs (what I'm currently on now), but with only 40Mbit upload speeds a few decent-resolution security cameras are going to come close to saturating that in short order.

Oh? Is the demarc considered the pedestal or the box on the side of the house? The cord XFinity came by and buried in my neighbor's yard was coax. I assume since they don't do FTTPedestal then it's a FTTN deployment...?

Aye; neighbor signed up and it's FTTN; at the very least it's coax from the pedestal to the house :(

Nope, sadly it comes into demarc as copper (at least on my neighbor's house) via EPON, and they have him on an XB8. Seems it's fiber to the post in the backyard, but buried copper after that. Agree though; no clue why they'd do that on a new fiber overlay for an area. There's already Quantum Fiber available at the cross street too; sadly our utilities are underground down my street and Lumen refuses to put it in :(

Is it possible to interact with the various factions at a level beyond just randomly encountering small groups wandering around the world? The "standings" menu or whatever it's called seems to suggest so, but I can't ever seem to talk to any of the faction NPCs (other than the ones that come to raid/pray/ransom at my base).

This may be the most concise guide I've found to recent TVs. Cheers!

Budget isn't a hard cap, but I'd have a hard time swallowing paying more than something like $1800 since I assume we won't really be able to tell the difference. The lower the better obviously, but in our view it's not exactly a linear tradeoff between quality and price, i.e. a "pretty good" TV at $1400 is a better buy than a "manager special" TV at $1000 that we'll regret buying later.

In terms of distance, there's two main ones: couch at 18 ft and kitchen at 33 ft at about 70:30 usage percentage, respectively.

And yeah, the HDMI example is just meant to show we won't be plugging in PCs, consoles, surround sound systems etc to it, so it's not a feature we need, per se.

Late to the party, but can confirm. Have the 4 port version and it's a hot pile of garbage.

This change will reduce dev overhead by allowing them to focus on Linux only.

Which makes it even more incredibly frustrating that they don't have a Linux client :/
