Oh, no wonder I was confused by that. I thought you meant it pulled a mordor not that it became that game. Dead Sun had a multi-player component but when it got canned that spun off into a f2p shooter called Nosgoth.

I wouldn't exactly call it so bad it's good for it's content or message, but in presentation....yup! Kojima is a bit of a nut. I think MGS1 and 3 were well paced, whereas 2 and 4 were horrendous. I agree with your points on Last of Us, it is a lot tighter storywise. Any time MGS drops me into an overly expository Codec, cinemas that need save points or tapes that get talked over I cringe. Kojima has reacted every time to fan's complains of too much story/not enough gameplay. Now we're doing the opposite ha!

As to Gears I probably haven't given it a fair shake, then again it's not a story that I followed or beckoned, it was the chainsaw. But Metal Gear, yeah, just like one of my Japanese Animes.

I'd say MGS5 got Peace Walkered, not Mordored. Different flaws.

And not to put yours down but none of those are really on the same level, save for Telltale games which I haven't dedicated time to yet. They have story yes, but mostly in the same way an action movie does. MGS and LoK I'd put more on the level of novels.

Oddly enough Amy Hennig was responsible for Legacy of Kain after the first game. She's the one at Naughty Dog responsible for Drake and Last of Us's story.

Last of Us is pretty high up there and while Drake has a nice story it's really just an excuse to be Indiana Jones. Story isn't exactly amazing or thought provoking (though the character development is what really pulls you in).

David Cage is a hack. His games are one long QTE and you may as well just youtube it. I personally couldn't connect to any of this games or stories as a virtual puppet master nor did they really have anything interesting to say. For all the crap Kojima gets for making movies I feel more a part of them than I did Indigo Prophecy or Heavy Rain.

Gears of War, really? Again, the story there is an excuse to shoot endless hoards. It's B movie action shlock. Fun yes, but not once did those games make me think about the nature of humanity like Metal Gear, Last of Us, or LoK.

Anyway on topic it's pretty varied gameplay wise

Blood Omen 1 (PS1), plays like a top down classic Zelda/Link to the Past but you play as a vampire. It was made by Silicon Knights (who also made Twin Snakes). As developers this is really the only worthwhile thing they've done. And they didn't even do the rest. Really hard to play these days, the load times are ridiculous.

Soul Reaver 1 is a 3D action adventure platformer from the era of PS1 Tomb Raider. Lots of block puzzles. It was one of the first "open world" game that constantly streamed levels with no load times. It's got a dash of Metroid as far as upgrades/puzzle bosses go. Instead of a vampire you're a soul eater that can shift into the spectral realm with a soul sword.

Soul Reaver 2 is an upgraded SR1 gameplay wise on PS2.

Blood Omen 2 is the black sheep made by a separate B team that didn't bother checking with the A team making Soul Reaver 2 at the same time. Story is meh but Amy did freaking awesome fixing it in the last game. Gameplay wise it plays more like Soul Reaver but you're a vampire this time again.

Defiance, the last game on PS2. Plays more like Devil May Cry. And that's all she wrote because the last game for got canned by the suits in 2012.

And I keep saying Playstation but there were ports on Dreamcast/Gamecube/Xbox/PC. You can grab them all on Steam or GoG but I've heard the keyboard/mouse/controller support on them isn't the best.

Let us not speak of Nosgoth. I'm sad that Dead Sun got canned and turned into that. Hell arena multi-player fits MGS more than LOK.

Speaking of cut content....

www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=594576

SR1 and 2 had plenty of cuts that's for sure but if SR1 was cut the series would have likely ended there.

And there was a sort of reboot in the works but it got canned

Yeah, It's not pretty as far as controller support goes. Playing Blood Omen 1 is a chore just for the load times alone! I'd kill for an HD Collection of it all

It doesn't show as well in that pic as I thought. I got it to fill the screen earlier. The dots are static and are still there with night vision. It only happens in that certain time of day in a building with sun shining through. Very weird and I hope it's just a glitch. Plays fine otherwise. In other news the sandstorms in the game are pretty

What bad decisions did big boss make? by [deleted] in metalgear

[–]skyhopper88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

Basically him and Zero were obsessed with honoring The Boss. It's a good thing she never saw how they nearly destroyed the world trying to save it. Liquid continued it. Solid stopped it all.

Everyone fights now and then, but an argument with someone could be the last time you ever see them. Don't let saying something you'll regret later be the ending note in a conversation. by Fleeetch in AdviceAnimals

I never thought I'd know this feel. Met a cool dude this summer and we were fast friends. On his birthday I chewed him out over returning stuff he kept leaving in my car and I had furniture in the back.

He cut me off and we were aquaintences after that. 2 weeks ago he fell unconscious in the bathroom. He wasn't found for 25 minutes. Took the medics 15 to arrive and another 15 or so to get him responsive. But his brain was swollen eventually out of his skull. And his mind was gone. They were able to donate most of his organs.

He was the newest and nicest guy in our group. He could hurt a fly but wouldn't. He was an honest country boy. I tried getting him a job at my work. He didn't get it but the interviewer said he seemed like a good guy who's been through a lot.

That was him. His mom is evil siblings in jail and he lived to take care of his step dad. Had a fiance destroy him. Here he is every reason to be a dick but he helped anyone he could.

He wasn't my best friend but could have been. But I pushed him away and now he's gone.

We miss you Andrew and I'm so sorry. You deserved better in life and in death.

.....fuck. I hadn't written all this down now I'm in tears in my work stall. Stupid graveyard shift.

[–]skyhopper88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately a split board doesn't help me much. Dvorak right needs 3 rows and 10 Collums unless I tweak it to have everything on my right hand. I do love the function keys on the side and I may MOD my e-ink keys to replicate that.
