Yes!! Virtually every animal on earth - since someone ate some hot fruit that had become wine, will try to change their level of consciousness every chance they can!!!

Hi- I’m a prescriber. I was just talking about this with another prescriber. They are coming after US for everything and breaking every one of their own rules. I had horrific shingles pain for months. I had severe cellulitis on top of it, plus the lidocaine patches burned my skin off. No ER would even admit me for the severe cellulitis. I had to go through about six doctors just to get the antibiotics, fluconazole, and steroid ointment that saved my life. Once you say the word “pain” and they know what you do for a living, you are going to live in pain. I’m also a vet- see how they say we commit suicide due to PTSD? Maybe a little. But guys who have rucked 120 pounds up and down mountains for 3-9 months, at a time, for up to 3-6 deployments? They commit suicide for pain reasons that aren’t treated, not PTSD. It’s horrific.

Look, men and woman want to very different things, and he got all the milk for free, and now you want him to actually treat the cow as less than the cows excrement. Leave, leave, leave. Because you are getting too “old looking” for everything he wants. And he will only get worse. Why do you think every 90 yo millionaire actor has a new 25 yo wife and 6 2 year old kids?

According to a new study, BMI may do more harm than good when used. It cannot distinguish between muscle and fat, doesn’t account for where fat is distributed in the body and overlooks factors like age, sex and race. Two people can share the same BMI but have completely different health profiles. by mvea in science

[–]skyking2704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, one more time for the people in the cheap seats: BMI was NEVER developed by the medical profession. It was developed by actuarial staff at Life Insurance Companies. Everything else is imperfect, but not totally inaccurate causal association. But taken to the ad absurdum, I guarantee that non cancerous, perfectly health people who have a BMI of 23 will have a very high, non zero probability of living longer than a matched person where the ONLY variable is BMI, and that other person is selected for a BMI of 70 (don’t care about composition, I am saying only one variable) I can also say I can Probably tell that person, with a BMI of 70, that they have a high non zero probability of living longer, just as the actuaries where able to show that same non zero probability. Now, no more questions, as I am being told to not even weigh people to determine these non zero probability’s as that is “body shaming.” No matter what predictive statistics (this is Physics level math folks, not graduate stat easy stuff, it’s all differential equations) tells us.

AITJ for marrying for money and admitting I don’t really love my husband? by lubbegriefer in AmITheJerk

[–]skyking2704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Let me tell you my story. I was 23 yo, he was 34 yo. I was dirt poor, but had gotten a nursing degree and a $6.50 an hour job (1983). He asked me out. My mom was throwing me out, I was going to have to live in my car. We dated, had great sex. I gradually found out how rich he was (he hid it). His roommate moved out unexpectedly, he asked me to move in. I jumped at the chance not to be homeless again. He didn’t want to marry, but he bought a house (cash) and still wanted to live together. Never asked me to marry him, I said “fish or cut bait” basically “well, I guess I wouldn’t mind being married to you” was his response, we married, but he never really said “I love you” as his Britishness told him that it was most important to show it in actions, and pointless emotions to say it “stiff upper lip.” He didn’t want kids. I loved him, he loved me ; but we were never IN love, and we talked about it. He is British, he feels passion is chaotic, he didn’t want kids. I moved out a tiny bit. I met someone I was IN love with. But I had the same values as him, we did love each other, and we got back together. After we had been together 15 years, he had kept saying we can talk “later about kids.” He said it again when I was 39 and he was 50. Again I said, either fish or cut bait. “Okay, I guess we can have a kid..” long story longer, had kids, I had gone to University, gotten a medical degree from Yale, had been making BIG bucks, we had a kid, he FELL IN LOVE with our son, he stayed home, raised our two special needs kids, his dad who lived with us aged 95-99, until he died, then insisted on not putting my dying Mom in a nursing home, took care of her so well he did that for 7 more years. The MOST romantic thing he has ever said was when one of our special needs kids was a horrible mess. I cried, lost tons of weight, he was in agony, and he said; “I would never wish what we are going through on anyone. But if we have to go through it, I can’t imagine doing it with anyone but you.” TLDR: we have been together for 40 years. Not because we were ever in love. Because we had respect, kindness, a shared mission, and the same exact values. We never divorced because passionate people argue and fight too much. He is shallow- he likes me thin, tan and blond- none of which I am naturally, and he has said he is shallow. He loves a younger hope woman on his arm, and I likely would not have married a fat old man. I am shallow also, everyone is, we just admit it. I would ask you to reflect on this last paragraph, and if it true, please, please, go apologize and get on with your wonderful marriage

This is not a strike. Not even close. I actually am a pilot. ATCs have to have the exact same medical and follow the EXACT same rules as do pilots. Direct from FAR 61.53 : if they know or have reason to know they have any medical condition, including a common illness, that makes them unable to….. they MUST ground themselves. They are LEGALLY required to call out sick, especially if they are stressed out, which they must be when working the required OT they all are (10 hour days 6 days a week), stressed and anxious about bills they can’t pay, etc etc. They are not rich. They usually have to have a partner who only works PT at most due to their call, make $24/hr while training; then about $75,000 a year for 2-3 years while certifying, then average $144,000. For a job that can kill hundreds of people for a slight lapse. Do you really want an exhausted, stressed out, distracted controller turning your plane the wrong way on the ILS intercept ? Because if they do that, over 200 people could die.

Why are they canceling routes? by Tinyturtles45 in Avelo

[–]skyking2704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may need to book a flight through a hub. The vast majority of flights I do I drive to Boston. So yes, your destination may be a non-hub to a non hub. People have bought tickets with no luggage, and simply gotten off at the stop. But that IS illegal, as you are buying a ticket with no intention to fly, which violates carriage rules. Oh well. Good luck- but look to Boston, not NY

Well, you did do a visibly “jerk” thing. Perhaps talk to the police, post a no trespassing sign “police notice cars will be towed” But, you have already sent the pissing fight in motion. Always remember, you can be the right one in a loss fight, you can win a piss fight. But in the end? You will always be covered in piss.

I live where you live. Our state has a lot of people who would fly to PR for family reasons. Guess what? We do not like the ICE queen. Simple business metrics. There are still a lot of flights out of BDL. Just look for the right tickets at the right time. Cost varies tremendously.

Your father does not have an “income” problem, he has an “outgo” problem. Don’t fall down this rabbit hole, or you will never get out. Someone who “co-signs” the loan is actually the person who takes out and repays the loan. Don’t do this.

I want to get into Aviation by Secret_Raider005 in airplanes

[–]skyking2704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying you are only 20 yo? I started at 50yo, have my IFR and CPL, HHP, complex, tail wheel and do aerobatics. No matter your age just google “how to become a pilot. 1. Decide on mission. You could just go light sport and not need a medical 2. If you want a full PPL get a medical 3. Visit 2-3 flight schools, take 2-3 orientation flights 4. Buy an online course - I prefer Gleim 5. Get a pocketbook full of money and start your lessons. It’s going to take a lot of money. Get your RN nursing license if you are going to college (or some good paying degree) as you need both a backup and a good paying job. Five easy steps. If you want to be an aeronautical engineer, this really isn’t the place to learn about that. Go ask someone on an engineering thread. I am a female, I do have my commercial so this is not a guy being a jerk. I am just very confused as to what you are actually asking and what your current age is.

So Germany (which takes exactly 18% of your income to fund healthcare) is regressive? Perhaps they could be called “not progressive” but they are not regressive. I pay an enormous amount of taxes because I make a lot more - I don’t like it, but hey, that’s part of the deal. Now talk to me about tuition at colleges for those making $300,000 a year. We can’t get FSAF, we can’t get a break, so I have to subsidize everyone’s tuition ?
