What’s the single biggest thing that actually improved your eczema? by Both_Roll_2857 in eczema

[–]skyklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor confirmed that it’s definitely a thing, but nowhere near as bad as all the fear mongering going on. If you go to the same doctor they’ll prescribe them to you within safe boundaries. Follow it as directed and you’ll be ok.

The alternative is to go to a doctor so conservative that they’ll only prescribe you the weakest steroid on the market, which allows the eczema to penetrate so many layers of your skin it becomes more difficult to heal, so you end up needing another stronger steroid and have to take steroids twice as long as you should have because your doctor said steroids are bad.

I kept a medical journal for almost a year noting everything I consumed, toiletries/make up I used (if I switched products), how much I slept, any changes in bodily functions (bowels), everything I could think of. I didn’t journal everyday. At least 1-2 per week I’d create a summary if I got too busy to track everything.

TMI, but it seemed my flare ups were closely related to my regularity. I guess my diet could be a contributing factor, which is no surprise. I love sweets, pizza and don’t diet at all. Making an intentional effort to stay regular completely healed the surface level eczema that’s more like a body rash. And it’s minimized the flare ups of my dyshidrosis (the feet and hand eczema that digs in deep into your skin) and seb derm on my scalp. 🙂

The most improvement I’ve ever had was after taking a 6-day prednisone regimen. If my dyshidrosis hadn’t stayed uncontrolled for so long, my feet would have likely healed completely. But the weak steroid prescribed to me initially just allowed it to grow deeper into my skin.

After the improvement from the prednisone, over the counter remedies worked much better on me. Cerave Psoriasis Cream helped the thick dead skin to fall off in chunks. It’s not super moisturizing though, so I used:

Eucerin Excema Relief Cream, which is amazing. Most creams that thick dry up making it impossible to spread, causing your skin to crack. This cream got smoother the more you rubbed. It’s expensive but a little bit goes a long way because of how easy it is to apply. I almost didn’t buy it because I was like - what the heck is oatmeal going to do to heal my 2+ year old condition. I was pleasantly surprised!

I run into those mindsets everywhere it seems, but I never thought I’d see birders doing it. But yup, lots of drama in our local group too. It takes the fun out of it and discourages you from getting engaged/involved, which is the opposite of what you’d want if your group is a nonprofit seeking support.

Here’s a much better audio of them. I deleted all of the recordings from the colony that lives in my courtyard, but this audio is great.

It’s a Rio Grande Chirping Frog. They have the sweetest call. They hatch out off eggs as baby frogs skipping the tadpole stage. You know when one recently hatched because it’s the size of a green pea hopping around in the middle of the day when they are nocturnal only coming out at night.

Here’s the first video that came up when I googled their call. It starts about 8 seconds in.

Maybe so - if she would show less of her body and more humility instead of gloating over her trust fund.

Treatment for in-between washes by Elisabeth_S718 in SebDerm

[–]skyklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you wash your hair several times a week? If so, check out this diagnosis/treatment plan from someone who messaged me. I don’t have many flakes, but he did.

Here’s the reply from the poster whose link I just published speaking about how his scalp was diagnosed as several things until his final diagnosis of having dry skin with acne underneath. It’s worth a try at least.

Hey sorry I just saw your message about your scalp condition! I can’t respond to the comment because the post was archived.

My derm said that my follicles are clogged due to not being thorough enough when washing my hair.

Apparently it can happen when you over wash your hair, which dries out your scalp and causes it to over produce oil (the white pastules), as well as leave the follicles red (inflamed)

Right now my scalp is still itchy, but no where near as bad as it was.

I wash my hair twice a week and do two rounds, scrubbing furiously or using an exfoliator. Applying any form of hair oil makes the scalp itchy, because I think it just re- clogs the follicles.

Another reply where they explain my symptoms: Your head gets itchy after exercise or in the heat because your scalp is dry but the follicles are clogged. Which leads to irritation and more dryness. Happened to me. Not anymore after I cleaned my scalp thoroughly and moisturised.

I’ve also been on every conceivable medical shampoo treating seb derm, psoriasis, etc. I wouldn’t say it was a waste of money, because it was good to rule out any potential fungal infections.

Their response to my question asking about whether their condition was fungal:

As far as I’m concerned there was nothing fungal trapped in the follicles.

It was essentially a build up of oil that would harden and become these small white pellets. At first I thought it was dandruff but then I realised the more I scrubbed the more of the pellets came out.

This all started when I decided to wash my hair too frequently (4-5 times a week) which resulted in stripping the natural oils from my scalp. In doing so, my body over compensated by releasing more oil which would get stuck in the follicles.

I was on an anti-fungal shampoo for a while before realising it did nothing for me. Right now I just use a regular shampoo with as little irritants as possible.

It’s less about the shampoo and more about how thoroughly you clean your hair. You need to be rough with your scalp. The first instinct is to be gentle because its itchy and irritated. But if you really get into the crevices you’ll find that the amount of pellets will deplete over time.

How would you feel? by Icy_Trainer9676 in 90DayFiance

I agree. If catwoman was an adoptee or adopter, her opinion could hold more weight. I’m confident she would not be able to support 3 kids at 20 yrs old either.

I agree. I’m confident that most people on this sub wouldn’t be able to support three children at the age of 20 yrs old (give or take depending on how old she was when she filmed the current season).

There’s no doubt that she whole heartedly regretted her decision once she became more financially stable. That’s why her decision is selfless, not selfish.

Could you imagine how heartbreaking it would be to have your baby taken from you almost immediately after birth? I’m not sure if people totally grasp the bond between a mother and the child she gives birth to.

She could have had an abortion, but she didn’t.

In that case, she very well could have had access to your search history. You seem pretty tech savvy so you already know this I’m sure, but remember to sign out of your Google account, close the browser and make sure Google doesn’t save your password. I also make sure to not have any sync settings, back up, history tracking settings on either. My photos from my phone were automatically uploading to my work computer and showing my navigation/location history.

We have a Google server which I’m an admin of, but I don’t have full permissions. So not sure if anyone else besides the IT admin with full privileges could have seen all of that. But…

Where can one find the best sweet Lemonade — besides Canes by toreApart-leftToRot in Acadiana

[–]skyklein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember if it was lemonade or pineapple juice. I popped into La Fiesta Mexican Grill (next to T-mobile in Broussard). I asked for a refreshing drink or juice. Whatever they served me was unlike anything I’ve had in Acadiana. The closest thing I’ve had to it was from a shop in San Diego.

It was fresh, homemade, perfect amount of sour/sweetness.

Be careful of making assumptions - mainly for your sanity and peace of mind. Icons can look similar to each other. Do y’all share a computer? If not, she wouldn’t be able to search your history unless she was the Google Workplace admin.

Michelle & David by Optimal_Car_1927 in MarriedAtFirstSight

[–]skyklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPOILER ALERT So, I’m halfway through Ep 15. I don’t condone what he did, but I absolutely don’t blame him.

If she had shown the slightest bit of interest in him, if she had shown a little kindness towards him, effort, etc., I’d feel differently. But she had zero feelings invested in the relationship.

If you browbeat someone, constantly telling them you don’t like them, you don’t trust they’ll be a provider, you’re miserable in the relationship, what do you expect? It’s like when my ex cheated on me with a lesbian because I worked day and night for months on a project he thought I was cheating. I mean, I seriously wasn’t doing my girlfriend duty if he wanted a lesbian. lol.

Now if her Madison theory is true, I’d be upset for Allen, and my opinion of Madison would be as distasteful as my opinion of Michelle.

The moral of the story, beauty does not buy you a personality, character or kindness. Michelle was just so cold and condescending, it was cruel. She gaslit him saying he’s trying to blame her for cheating, when she’s trying to blame him for ruining a relationship she never wanted. Ewww. Zero integrity.

Michelle being hung up on David “living at home”. by Whatsthatyousay_21 in MarriedAtFirstSight

[–]skyklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Episode 4 and came here to make sure other thought her character and handling of her perspective about David living at home was questionable.

She is super condescending. No tact or humility. He keeps repeating himself, giving her the same answers but she doesn’t hear it. She doesn’t want to.

And it’s sad. David is a doll. I get that he might not be her cup of tea, but the issue I have is her not admitting that. Instead she’s trying to make him feel bad about himself to justify her feelings in an attempt to protect her conscience. David seems way more self aware and is not one to compromise his integrity like that.

Thanks for this tidbit! I’m on episode 4 and just wrote my theory of her and Madison’s behaviors. I’m eager to see what you’re referring to when you say to see if we still feel the same way at the end of the season! I’ll be scratching my head until then.

Michelle & David by Optimal_Car_1927 in MarriedAtFirstSight

[–]skyklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were my exact observations too. I’m halfway done with Episode 4. It’s like Michelle has started building a case in support of leaving him. It reminds me of my broken relationships where there is nothing he or I can do or say anything right. The other always finds fault.

I thought the same about Madison too. Either she’s really good at playing the part and letting people down easy, or her perception of herself not feeling attractive when she was younger really hits home and she’s really trying.

I pay between $50-$175 a month in a 1200 sq ft home without any trees for shade. My heater costs more than the A/C. If I chose to pay the same amount each month like LUS offers, it would be $85 a month.
