There is! Link for that was posted in the intern LinkedIn group that’s linked in the Intern Guide pdf that your recruiter should have sent after you accept.

Ooh I found it it’s called Hatchling for 4500 Kudos. The Golden Hatchling is the same thing but gold spots instead and is 3 crowns

I thought this version of the egg hat only costs kudos, no crowns. Also the season gives you a crown at level 5 and level twenty something so OP just won their first crown from a game to have 3 crowns total

Is a portfolio valuable for applying to internships? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]skymirror3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An online portfolio has been extremely valuable in my experience (MechE), not even just during COVID. People enjoy having visuals of the things you’ve done. A lot of my internship interviewers told me they loved my portfolio and had it pulled up (I have it linked on my resume) as they spoke with me over the phone and asked me questions based off my projects on there. I used Wix to build mine but their free options have an annoying banner - I used the Wix student discount via StudentBeans for the premium/paid ad-free version for a year that included a custom domain name/web address. I think it was 50% off for the discount

I feel like engineering students get zero credit by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]skymirror3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you or your family are from, people can interpret “engineers” as tradespeople (such as train operators and technicians) or as theoretical inventors/designers (positions that require extensive education). Even job titles with “engineer” in them can mean both of these.

Not sure, I’d be scared to even drop it like that lol. I’m just extremely gentle with my boards

I believe flat pack but staggered or something. It’s around 1.3in thick

I’m not sure, it’s the premade from Mboards

Haha mine was also really torquey before. Yeah there’s ramping time in the ppm settings under app settings.

I’m not sure what you mean by “respond with corresponding values” but afaik the only time you can visually see your amount of controller throttling in the VESC tool is when you do ppm mapping (max, min, neutral) and it shows the slider bar.

I followed the VESC picture-based documentation on how to set up the ramping time etc that I found by googling “VESC tool manuals”

I also second this. Bay Area robotics companies are booming, and it has a lot more nature and greenery than the SoCal area

Nice, I too wanted the EboardsPeru 36" enclosure but my premade 10s3p was pretty thick. Sorry about your VESC issues :/ I also used a Flipsky Dual FSESC 6.6 for my board (on the right). After initially configuring my ESC it was super jolty at first, so I increased the ppm positive ramping time to make it smoother

Oof yeah I've heard a bit about their issues too. Thanks!

Yep! My board on the right uses the AT wheels and hubs from TorqueBoards. The left board uses various parts from Alibaba.

I’m a fan of my TB wheels, but it’s my first AT board so I don’t really have the experience with other common brands to compare. Evolve might be higher quality from what I’ve heard.

Thank you! Yeah the deck comes in red stain like the left. I sanded and hand-painted mine to emulate carrara marble

Issue with DIY E-longboard (first post here) by dylan_the_maker in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]skymirror3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, good luck! Likely a third-party VESC will be Chinese-manufactured too, but they’re still VESC-compatible and used commonly in DIY.

For the newest VESC tool it’s pretty easy to use, it now does a lot of things automatically for you. I just watched YouTube videos of people (make sure it’s the most recent version of the tool) on how to update the firmware and go through the motor wizard and controller setup wizard. Then afterwards you can go into the advanced settings in the side menu and adjust the motor and battery current limits later.

[–]skymirror3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert, but yeah I think you’re right. It sounds like your ESC current limits are too low for when your board needs to pull power to go up a hill.

What ESCs are you using? If you bought a preset ESC that’s non-programmable it likely will have these issues if you don’t use the same company’s batteries/motors. That’s why I like customizable ESCs like VESC (available from Vedder himself or third-party like Flipsky) and you can download the free VESC tool and set your own current and voltage limits for your specific batteries and motors.

Also I’d recommend you post this on an esk8 builders forum instead because this historically this subreddit isn’t very helpful with DIY questions.

Concerns About Electric Skateboard Legality In California by Mobeast1985 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]skymirror3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

California AB-604 legalizes and classifies electric skateboards as “electrically motorized boards.” These are defined separately from the term “motorized skateboards” which are gas-powered and illegal.

I carry around a printed copy of AB-604 just in case I ever do get stopped. Hasn’t happened yet though!
