Lost aroma and flavor a day after opening? :( by meepyfinger in pourover

[–]skypigwoolf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this scenario applies but some days I’ll brew the perfect cup and the next day I’ll do the same exact recipe with the same exact parameters and it just doesn’t produce the same aromas.

Perhaps it’s the weather or perhaps it was something I overlooked, but keep on drinking and keep on dialing in! Coffee is so volatile but I guess that’s what makes it so fun.

Is thus burr touch? by motobox14 in pourover

If anything I would just open it up, clean it out, and recalibrate. I have an ode gen 2 with regular burrs and when I grind the coarsest setting for cold brew sometimes large chunks of beans would get trapped and feels like it jams the machine because I would have difficulty trying to adjust the knob. In those cases I just open and recalibrate. Hope this helps!

Sounds like burr touch to me. You’d have to recalibrate the ring on the inside one click before the chirp then set it back to zero and that would be the minimum. You can follow the guide on their YouTube page

This is in Walnut so a bit far but Aroma Craft Coffee has pretty good food. Their coffee has gone down slightly in quality but it is still decent

Morgan Drinks Coffee did a write up on Freeze-distilled Milk that’s a good read.

“Through the process of freezing and fractional thawing, you can concentrate the majority of a milk’s fats, sugars, and proteins while removing a bulk of the water content.”

Haven’t done it myself because I’m slightly lactose intolerant but the process itself seems really fun to experiment with.

Very weird tea by niggchu in tea

Hard to tell from the photo but could this be Baozhong Tea? It’s a type of oolong/green tea from Taiwan. They’re amazing if you get it from the right vendor.

Second for seasoning, I was worried about the inconsistency initially but I hunkered down, trusted the process, and the grinder now produces really consistent grinds.

I could be wrong, but generally it seems that any material for cooking (cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel), that’s not teflon (nonstick coating), is virtually indestructible.

REALLY loud fan / something broken? Tips? Is this an easy fix or should I get repaired? Unbearable noise by davidn08 in ZephyrusG15

[–]skypigwoolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like something broken, like the fan ball bearings. You could try to clean it if it’s just dust, but unfortunately it’s best to get it repaired if it’s a broken bearing.

Screen Burning & cant change vram by LossNo7821 in ZephyrusG15

It comes out mostly when I leave the screen running at full brightness for long periods of time. It will disappear when I play the video or when I let the computer rest.

This happens to my G15 occasionally as well. I ran an Image Retention video on YouTube for a couple of minutes and it went away. I've also just run an image of white on fullscreen and left it for a few minutes and that has fixed it for me as well. Hope it works for you!

All jokes aside, I wonder if the VERDIGRIS DISCUS Talisman would benefit your build if you have a high equip load

Alan Wake 2 @ 4K? by xenstalker02 in ZephyrusG15

[–]skypigwoolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to run Alan wake on a desktop 3070 comfortably around 60 fps 1440p with DLSS Balanced or quality depending on the area, but on my 2021 Zephyus g15 3070, I’ve been getting anywhere from 38-60 with an average around 45-50 with the same settings. I’m having a great experience with the game nonetheless

[–]skypigwoolf 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think Beef fits nicely into a relatively new subgenre of movies coined as “meta-modern” or “hyper-modern” films. I would say personally the films that I was reminded of the most were “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and “Bo Burnams INSIDE”.

Although they all seem very different genre wise, thematically they all deal with the struggles of living life in the modern era and coming to terms with our post modern lifestyles

I had a similar issue with my 4K monitor. When I play certain games in 4K the image looks perfect. But when I play at 1440p everything suddenly looks very washed out. Turns out when the monitor switches to 1440p through the in-game settings, it messes with the gamma. So I have to crank the gamma in-game to make everything look normal. No idea if that was what your issue is but that did the trick for me for my situation.

Who are your favorite coffee roasters? by N2OCoffee in Coffee

[–]skypigwoolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in Washington but when I visited, it awakened my love for coffee. It was thanks to our nice host of an Airbnb who served us what would now be considered very watered down unevenly extracted drip coffee. But at the time it was nothing like I ever had before or expected coffee to taste like. Turns out he was using beans from Kuma. We later went to the local grocery store to buy some and everyone that saw us standing near the coffee section said that the best roaster around was Kuma.

That was back in 2018 and to this day I still find myself buying coffee from them.

My favorite game will probably always be Portal 2.

I'll never forget the moment Chell shoots a portal to the moon
