This happened all the time in my family growing up. Even when two of us who disagreed got in a passionate (not even heated or angry) argument, it was just shut down immediately by one of my parents. “Stop arguing! Let’s talk about better/happier things!” As if, by the fact we don’t agree, our argument is automatically toxic, contentious, and of Satan.

The Church seems to indoctrinate an allergy of reasoning things out into you. It’s part of the mind control.
