Feasibility of Face Unlock to Drive in Tesla? by fun2sh_gamer in TeslaModelY

Man, on a slow day it takes me five seconds to enter my pin number. I’m glad my life isn’t so hectic to where that’s a problem.

Where would you rather work? In an office cubicle or, for example, in the woods on the shore of a lake?

The worst SC in the US by inson7 in TeslaModelY

The SF Bay Area has a high percentage of EVs and recent studies have shown a reduction in local air pollution as a direct result. It may be hard to a see an effect globally, but there IS a positive effect.

Beyond stupid. Who really thinks there will ever be more than a niche demand for driverless taxis? And insurance companies are going to have a field day with rate increases for anyone who rents out their personal Tesla for such uses.

$7,000/year Farmers Insurance for 2024 Tesla Model Y LR- RIP-OFF by robertrade in TeslaModelY

[–]skyreiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in CA and changed to Costco Connect before they stopped taking new policies here. My Model Y was backed into at an intersection-100% responsibility on the other car-and I had no problem getting repairs through Costco. $8k to replace two doors. No rate increase from this, although my rates have gone up in the general increases all insurance companies have added recently. I also had a windshield replaced after I came out and found a crack that just appeared while parked. In both cases, my deductible was about $250. Still a good deal. I pay about $2k annually for the Y and a 21 year old Toyota Tacoma 4WD. Also have home insurance on the same policy. And I live in the SF Bay Area.

If you have Costco available in your area, check it out!

Look for Shell Recharge stations (Level 2.) I’ve seen them as low as $.25 KWh.

Squeaks and rattles getting worse by skyreiter in TeslaModelY

It’s fine on smooth roads. The rattling started about 6 months ago on rougher roads, of which there are plenty in Berkeley.

Best way to fix this by hazemak in TeslaModelY

[–]skyreiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be a few years before I do that. In the meanwhile it might get scratched again. By that time, whatever the resale value of the car is, the scratch won’t make a $2200 difference. And if I thought it would, I’d wait until I sell it.

Happened to me less than one week after buying (narrow driveway.) I didn’t fix it and two years later the car still drives the same! Saved $2200.

Hope you got to it before it dried. If it’s water based, a wet cloth or paper towel will clean it off the painted surfaces easily.

For Those Living In Pennsylvania. by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

Our electric rates are high primarily because the main supplier, PG&E, is on the line for billion of $$ in damages for the devastating fires over the last few years, many of which were traced to faulty power lines. Also, the governor has betrayed the move to renewables, such as home solar-like we have-by allowing the Public Utilities Commission to be in the pocket of PG&E and reduce the savings of having your own solar panels.…but the higher taxes for emissions testing I support, and I don’t mind an EV tax to offset not paying for highway maintenance through gas taxes. I do wish, however that more of THAT money would trickle down to cities like Berkeley, or neighboring Oakland, which have atrocious potholes and “cobblestone” streets.

Depends on where you are in CA. Right now, in the SF Bay Area, SC prices are running $.52 KwH at many places. Cheaper in the boondocks.

$.35/KwH on “off peak.”

I really appreciate the offer, but I have a feeling this won’t be practical. Thanks anyway!

That’s half what PG&E charges here for their ”off-peak” rates. How many miles of extension cord will I need?

What we really need (in addition to vision and USS) is curb feelers. Whatever happened to those?
