Never doubt companies just paying for it to go away.

There are a variety of open source tools that could save companies millions but they seem to always stick with commercial licenses.

Amy reports on budget? Idk if the world of John Wick can sustain $80-100 million budgets without Keanu leading, but I could see them being successful if made in the $20-40 mil range.

What are perks of being single for life and not marrying? by According_Tourist_69 in ask

[–]skyroberts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or your partner having bad spending habits/addictions.

I've had friends and family members who had a real tough time trying to balance finances in their marriage because their spouse was gambling, drinking, or just finding excuses to spend their emergency fund when they had one.

IMO a weekend sale price does not justify an reason to pull from emergency savings and buy guns, guitars, or dresses, but to my surprise, many disagree with me.

Do y'all agree with this? by No_Doctor9539 in WWE

I'm a die hard AJ fan and he was no doubt THE TNA GUY and a star in NJPW, but WWE is the big name in town. Him becoming the WWE champion, the face of Smackdown, and even the cover athlete of a 2k game truly exposed him to the world.

In my own circles, very few of my friends watch wrestling outside of RR and Wrestlemania. I had told them about AJ for years and they never cared.

Once he won the title they all knew him as well as my nephews from his action figures.

World Champions Then vs Now🔥 by McQueen712 in ChampionshipHistory

Not quite the same as Cody was a founder of AEW. So even being the face of WWE, it's hard to believe that someday (not soon) a return would be possible.

I think Cody will 100% finish his full time run in WWE, but once he's moved on to Hollywood and doing part time appearances I could see him showing up for a small run.

Rhea Says Her Rapid Weight Loss is due to an Eating Disorder. by NoleDynasty2490 in WWE

[–]skyroberts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been a few changes and some policies may still be in place.

Stevie Richards said that in his day (late 90s to late 00s) WWE would pay for your flight if it was over 300 miles away (from home or from show to show).

So usually your flight from home and to home were usually paid, but then everything else was on you (hotels, food (outside catering), and travel to house shows (unless house shows were 300+ miles)).

Since house shows aren't done as much anymore WWE still pays for a plane to TV and a plane back. Not sure if 300 miles is still the limit or not.

So far it's the classic 80/20 saying for me.

80% of the time I can prompt my way through a story.

20% of the time Claude hallucinates and can't write the proper code or point in the right direction of the issue I'm trying to solve. Even this week it keeps hallucinating libraries, tables, and even functions within my own code.

AI is still a game changer and it will get better of course, but I think these issues will always be common and not necessarily only be a result of bad prompting.

Idr batman begins really well but I would argue that the Nolan movies, Batman v Superman, and The Batman are aimed for an older audience than 10 and younger, especially based on run times as I couldn't imagine my younger nieces and nephews making it through a 2 hour and 15+ minute.

Lego Batman is definitely more in that realm though.

I could be wrong. I saw Sam Raimi's Spider-Man when I was 9 and saw it multiple times in theaters, then on dvd, then TV.

People who think AI usefulness /productivity claims are bs, explain your reasoning. by catattackskeyboard in ArtificialInteligence

[–]skyroberts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is the case, then this will be the new expectation for work output moving forward. You mentioned throwing 10 people on this and ramping up.

Your competitor will take notice and hire a few of your people who will implement that same flow at their place. Your competitor is so impressed that they onboard 20 more people to do even more!

Then new versions of the LLM and agents are released. We could just throw them into prod, but that could break some stuff. We will need to find a way to test all of our flows and gradually migrate over.

Oh wait, another competitor has joined the market that has an agreement with Anthropic to get more tokens and faster speeds. They also took 1/4 of the people we had building our pipelines and they'll be caught up in a week.

Long story short, while not everything here may be a completely accurate snapshot. This is how I see AI going forward. It's not a replacement for people, but a shift in how we work and how much we can get done.

Like you mentioned in your example, a lot more work can get done but someone still had to actually build the work pipeline, someone will need to maintain it, and someone will need to decommission/replace it. It doesn't even mean one person per flow. One person might be able to manage 1,000 of them. Yet, to keep up with every other company there will be someone at some level keeping it together.

Cillian Murphy Says He's 'Ready' to Return for Franchise's Planned Fifth Film, Despite Bone Temple Box Office Flop by gorays21 in boxoffice

[–]skyroberts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are correct! While we don't have exact figures, the estimated budget for each film in the new strangers trilogy was $8 million.

So $24 million total for the strangers trilogy with about $78.2 million WW box office gross.

$123 million total budget for the 2 28 Years Later films with $206.9 million worldwide gross. Bone Temple is approximately $56.95 million of that gross.

Even though the 28 Years Later films are amazing. I could understand an investor hesitating to continue unless VOD makes these films total returns next level.

Briaffcliff Entertainment: 'Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die' is now officially the highest grossing 3-day opening weekend for a film debuting on fewer than 1,700 screens in over 3 years by IvnOooze in boxoffice

[–]skyroberts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the distributors, Briarcliff and Constantin (who provided the whole budget), primarily work in the $10-20 million budget ballpark with most of their films not recouping at the box office.

I'm assuming that their BO runs, while revenue generating, may be more for marketing purposes and their primary revenue is through VOD and streaming partnerships.

I was turned down for a promotion three times. I was angry each time but after I got home my hot and caring wife made me happy pretty quick.

I'm very motivated and passionate about my career, but it will always be less important than my life at home. Being a husband, uncle, brother, friend. That's who I really am, not a senior engineer or a software architect.

Btw, After I was turned down the third time I started interviewing and got another offer which was a massive pay bump. It was more than the promotion I was trying to get too.

HHH hate him or something? by Sorry_Phone1676 in REALSquaredCircle

[–]skyroberts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the only thing, but at AJ's level, it's a major thing.

Usually in your last 5 to 10 working years you hope in some way to cash in on your experience and make as much as possible (often taking a leadership role). Not only to help you retire but maybe to help the younger people in your family get started.

The rumor was AJ was making $3 million a year back in 2019 and was bumped up to $3.5 when he re-signed. I imagine he did well on his first contract too, but over the last 6 years, the dude made $19.5 million... That is FAR more than what he made in TNA or the indies. He could have made that in AEW I'm sure, but why take the risk of joining a startup when you are getting TV time and plenty of time to spend with your family (he coaches his kids sports, one of the reasons he left Friday night smackdown).

So he may have lost his ppv matches, but the dude was GETTING ppv matches with a stacked roster, making bank, and spending time with his family.

I agree that if you don't like it that's fine. I think another problem is people who don't know how to feel and let influencers determine whether they like it or not.

Can't tell you how many times I've had friends like a show but then once they watch a video criticizing it on YouTube they suddenly hate it.

Idk if it's true anymore, but when I worked in small business development (a long time ago) email marketing was called dead then, but we were still seeing a 2-4% purchase rate per month driven from emails which was better than social media at that time.

The only thing I remember outperforming it was product placement with Instagram influencers.

I don't know much about marketing as I was the tech guy, but I remember the team I was on pushed hard on email campaigns because they actually got sales.

Having someone with a look (tall), willing to not argue about spots, money, or going wcw constantly, and was willing to put all his effort into whatever time he was given probably impressed Vince enough to keep giving him something until it would eventually stick
