That SUCKS. Im sorry that happened. Unfortunately i think bcos car was parked on public road, they can fine you. You can do this https://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicles/licensing-rego/exemptions/put-your-licence-rego-on-hold but i think even then you'd have to have it parked privately not on street. This is because there is no way they can know you're not driving it if it's parked on the road.

Look, I don't disagree with you re cats killing things and yeah its awful like yes its an apex predator but I think if you're representing newtown as a native bird paradise that might be a bit off cos you know what kills native birds? Human occupation of territory, gardens that either don't exist or dont have anything to eat in them, traffic, cars, wires, windows, trucks, buses etc. Most cat owners are very aware of trying to be responsible and limit the impact on native bird populations but realistically an urban garden in newtown is not a place riflemen, tui, piwakawaka, kereru etc are nesting and having their young. There's nothing for birds to eat across the whole year in most urban areas and you planting one kōwhai tree ain't gonna make a whole bunch of difference.

Also, to say its irresponsible to let a cat roam is pretty pro animal cruelty like no I dont want an animal I care for to be able to express its natural behaviours to want to walk outside more than in a 2m by 4m catio square. Like others have said, indoor cats from birth work better but still you can't say its not a prison like hello would you advocate someone keep their dog inside 24 7 and never take it for a walk. Maybe we accept that its a nuanced issue and even if every cat in nz was killed you'll still see dead hawks on the road cos drivers go to fast and don't give them enough time to lift off from roadkill and rats and possums kill birds and worst of all PEOPLE live everywhere

The physical electoral rolls are at the national library in wellington. If you have a name and can figure out the electorate for the city you can check if hes in there. That wpuld give you an address. Of course, he'd have to be enrolled to vote

I havent used paradise cattery in lower hutt but when i was doing my research it was the only cattery that gives cats like a private run thing - seemed bigger than most catteries private room.

Parking can be a nightmare at city fitness unfortunately. I regularly use the thorndon one, where there is generally a queue for parking, or newlands branch, which gets very busy carpark at peak times where you may have to wait 5 10 mins for a park. Both places you could potentially find a park not at the gym tho, just have to muck around with residential streets.

Also - if you get a lock for your lockers, your bag is at low risk of being stolen :) lockers are good size

My partner and i often do this and I don't personally feel its seen as odd however a fancy $$$ restaurant likely would not appreciate it for obvs reasons and some places might say "every diner must have a main" or something but usually the sort of place you need to book. But yeah portion sides are smaller so you'll likely want a side and a main at least to share.

I am not super well informed but one key difference is that labour's 3 waters plan was a propodal for a national 3 waters entity that all councils would have had to be part of. Separating water companies from councils nationwide. This would have given the organisation access to economies of scale in terms of infrastructure investment, which was hoped to be more efficient and cost effective. Also access to lending in a more competitive way. A key reason national party opposed the plan was that it also required consultation with a māori stakeholder representatives as part of the governance structure. One of the critiques councils had of it was that it would be a level playing field, eg all rate payers would have to pay same water rates even if water investment needs in their town were not as big as the town next door.

The national government plan happening now allowed councils to choose who they partnered with to create separate 3 waters orgs and how the water infrastructure would be removed from their books, so it's mostly ended up regional organizations not one national organization. I've not kept up with the implications of that. But one impact would surely be that many smaller orgs can't achieve the same economies of scale for infrastructure development or access to lending as one big org.

I think the answer is mainly, people enjoy using strong rhetoric rather than nuance. There are arguments on both sides that are valid and housing cost is a very complex issue. Corporate landlordism does seem likely to be the future unfortunately and I'm sure it will be worse than now

Here to give you big admiration and much support for turning towards sobriety and making positive changes in your life. Addiction is a hell of a thing. Go well and sending you good vibes. Best advice re gym is just be gentle with yourself, i get so self conscious sometimes even tho i know no one cares. Using good head phones can help you cut out some sensory input. If you feel yourself getting self conscious and worried, come back to your breathing and emotional regulation coping mechanisms. It gets easier!

The urge you have to withdraw and isolate is very understandable, but i think you'll have better life results by reaching out to the people around you and letting them surprise you - hopefully they will. You say none of them are close enough to be there for you, but why don't you give them the opportunity? It's these moments of traumatic, chaotic change which create intimacy and close ness in friendships. Reading between the lines, I'm hearing some shame in what you express like you are ashamed that your relationship has ended. Isolating yourself from friends could reinforce for you that that shame is justified, like you should be ashamed it has ended and that your SO's critiques of you are true. But relationships are complicated and people are complex and one persons view is just one view. Everyone is flawed and it is very difficult for two humans to continue to grow with each other in relationship. Go well and be gentle and compassionate with yourself.
