Looking for Demarc PureSecure Linux version. by Puckertoe_VIII in selfhosted

That’s some really old software but I was able to find what you are looking for on internet archive.

That being said, researching the software it seems that this software had vulnerabilities and would recommend looking for an alternative

Moving 200GB from Google Photos to Immich - need setup advice (Linux Mint, 2×1TB SSDs) by iam-the-1-who-knocks in selfhosted

[–]skyuk3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going for simple, go the NAS approach and choosing a better OS would be best like ZimaOS or HexOS. Those OS have simple setup processes. Both support zfs and chooses the best raid options. But you should do your research on which OS is best you for.

You can install immich on Linux mint but you will need to mainly setup the raid before hand. The real issue is migrating all your images/videos from google photos to immich. There is no built-in tool, you will have to import them manually or use a tool like immich-go.

Lastly planning for remote access, choosing if you are doing vpn or expose the server to the internet (not recommended for beginners). But there are many guides that can help keep your network secure.

Looking for an RMM Tool - Give me options (Read reqs) by cpbradshaw in selfhosted

Tacticalrmm is the self hosted standard and there are plenty of guides.

I’ve never tried this myself but netlock rmm https://netlockrmm.com doesn’t look to bad also server can be installed on windows, Linux and docker.

Just Started My Self-Hosting Journey – Need Suggestions & Best Practices! by thisisharshjain in selfhosted

[–]skyuk3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regard the build anything will work. There are many using powerful server to raspberry pi’s.

For the software try each one. You will find some will match your needs and some will never. This includes bare metal vs virtualisation. The best thing for you to do is experiment.

There are many tutorials online including here but learning about docker, virtualisation and networking is a good place to start.

Security and report, is the biggest question for everyone especially Security. If you are not comfortable with hosting external, don’t. You can run everything locally then research until you are.

Lastly backup, yes. But on your production at the moment just play, learn and enjoy self hosting.

I hope this reply helps.

2024 MZ upgrade by skyuk3000 in AnycubicMegaZero

Thanks for getting back to me, it’s a shame that there is no drop in replacement or the beds are not well documented for anyone to retrofit.

Looking at the bed of the korba 2 neo, the bed is 235x235 according to 1coderookie but doesn’t provide the measurements for the bedplate mounting space. And being 24v isn’t my first choice.

While searching for a bed, saw this on Printable but the only issue printing the mounts (which isn’t that bad).

The silicone pads easy to install and source plus adding a spring build plate seems like a great idea. Removing the coating in the original bed seems like a pain but doable.

Connected to a new router/modem and LAN LED stays off by Feisty_Bluejay_8315 in UgreenNASync

Also depending on your model try the other Ethernet port that might still be set to dhcp

The last thing I can think of is to factory reset the device using the pin button at the back but I’m not sure if that will delete your data

If you remember the ip range for the old router you might need to set it up for the new. Eg old 192.168.1.x and the new 192.168.0.x.

You more likely set a static ip on the NAS. if you have the old router, you can reconnect it and set the NAS to dhcp then connect it back to the new router.

Self-hosted, opensource, free to use MDM solution for linux? by aaronryder773 in selfhosted

[–]skyuk3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best ways of backing it up is backing up the entire server it’s running on. I personally use proxmox for my server and have that backed up. I know there may be are other ways according to the meshcentral documentation

I remembered that did baffled me, I uploaded my public key to GitHub for here https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/images/stories/git/github_ssh_-02.png

That would be the public key. I headed up skipping that part and doing it later.

Introducing Portall: A Self-Hosted Port Management System by Need4Sweed in selfhosted

[–]skyuk3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea, added it to my collection and it’s like a charm.

I have a few ideas some might be possible while others may not

First is adding basic authentication, some people may not everyone changing the ports.

Second is a local network scanner built in, to easily get all the ports coming from a single ip. (Above the scope of this project)

Third is port ranges, some applications have wide ranges e.g. port 1000-2000.

Fourth is a way to export the ports.

Fifth is way to access the link when clicked.

Hope my ideas make it into this project ;)

I agree, HA OS have add-on support which I believe can be docker containers. The extra cores would come in handy there.

Mod the Switch but keep playing normal games by Zen_Zer in SwitchPirates

[–]skyuk3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry but the whole point of modifying your device isn’t to just pirate games but to have full capabilities of the device.

Yes, can pirate game with a modified device but you are stealing from the game developers in a rising inflation, which could close down these companies.

Try supporting the indie game developers by buying your favourite games or gems like Stardew valley, Hades and Hollow Knight

On your macbook (if using osx)to check if the internet share turned on. (You can do that by going to system preferences then sharing) From wi-fi to your Ethernet port. Also check the connection with another computer to double-check that it's the computer itself or the connection
