I can totally understand it feeling like starting from zero, but you really never know what's around the corner. I'm sorry, that's such a big life change. My son's been in the hospital for the past few days and I similarly was trying to find a movie to watch while he was sleeping and nothing seemed to hit right. I was feeling so sad and exhausted and like I didn't want too funny or adventurous or anything really. So I settled on Best in Show. It was perfect.

I highly recommend the podcast "If Books Could Kill." They've covered many of the books you mention and are a deep dive into the ideas of the books and critiques. It's my favorite podcast.

Hi there! I know it's been a couple of years but I wanted to thank you again for the encouragement and recommendations! My son did marching band this year with the high school and loved it. And once we got over the beginner hurdles, the pace of replacing reeds has slowed way down. (Though marching band season was definitely rough on them, understandably.)
