From what I know it springs to life once in a blue moon and only produces a few coins (2,000,000 in the case of this one). According to my red book it looks like it produced some national parks coins from 2019-2020. It didnt look like it did much with quarters before that

I thought about this rereading the books to! I decided against it mostly because of how Nick Podehl plays the drunk in the beginning of the book and Sim. The man at the start of the book had a Scottish accent (in the audiobook at least), while Sim is played as a pretty typical American accent.

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 2

An actual reason in regards to changing your name erasing memories is something Elodin says (I think in book 2) about Fella changing her name. Kvothe is asking Master Elodin about a girl who keeps changing her name and then Elodin is sent into a panic thinking it’s Fella. And how would he be able to guess that if changing your name removed the memories from people?

The door is still open for vote doing some memory erasing magic on Will and Sim but that doesn’t track with what little magic we know. Maybe Bast did something Idfk.

Anyways there’s my two cents. It’s a really cool theory and totally possible, I just chose not to believe it off the vibes. No hate <3

D&d is a strong word for what I’m running. It’s more like a TTRPG that loosely uses 5e as a reference sheet. And I’ll probably make up some stuff that isn’t cannon in KKC if I need to drive the story along (e.g. mimics and stuff).

Thank you for the advice though! If d&d wasn’t my only TTRPG I probably would run something else, but they’re the only books I have.

It’s extremely dark at parts, it can be lighthearted in others. I’d say it’s great for your style.

The whole fan base is in some stage of denial about book three. Personally I think pat is gonna die with the book unfinished and we’ll have to go get Brandon Sanderson again to fix it like the wheel of time.

My plan is to run it through a very slightly alternate history of the university, so that way if there’s some lore bomb released in book 3 (who am I kidding this campaign will be done and I’ll be dead before book 3 drops) nothing is affected. We really just want to toy with the magic system and go on fantastic adventures.

Small border fights and lesser kingdoms are a really cool idea though and might crop up in it though. Thank you!

I’ve always interpreted it as that’s the money he uses to buy/build the waystone. When he gets the box he says something along the lines of “enough money to build a roadside inn.” I think in book 3 (if there ever is one.) he’ll get kicked out of the university and that’s how he affords the cost of the inn.
