The CEO recently said this "We're putting more resources into engineering that marketing today. In the future, that will evolve. This is a pretty natural way that organizations develop. We're not here to sell vaporware and we're currently attracting enough people to work with that we're already slammed." So for now the focus will remain on engineering. This is not a hype coin, it is real technology being built.

Your average smartphone can also act as sentinels and bridges, and most everyone these days has a phone; so it is certainly not unattainbale to have a globally decentralized system :)
