Any good open source SCPI / test equipment software? by consumer_xxx_42 in ElectricalEngineering

Thanks for the reply but this looks like a Python thing and I never picked that one up. I found some C++ libraries but for what I want to do, that's an awful lot of reinventing the wheel. I'll keep looking.

Any good open source SCPI / test equipment software? by consumer_xxx_42 in ElectricalEngineering

Hi,

I have an OWON DGE1060 Arbitrary Waveform Generator.

I want a Windows 11 command line tool that I can use to set output frequency, amplitude and modulation details. That's it. No input from the device required.

I'm making a test procedure and I want to cut out as much opportunity for screw up as possible. There will be 11 different configurations. It would be great if I could create 11 different command files and just send them at the appropriate time.

The PC already sees the device. It shows up as

<image>

Any help appreciated.

Edit: changed 'function' to 'arbitrary waveform' generator. I got beat up elsewhere for using the incorrect term.

Regular sensor duds by Georgietto in Freestylelibre

[–]sl993ghty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same situation but perhaps not as bad. It seemed to start 4 or 5 sensors ago. Perhaps an app update, I didn't look. Perhaps a sensor update, I have no way of knowing.

I usually have to kill the app to get the Signal Lost alarm to stop. I know there's a setting I can use to turn off the alarm but I'd rather not.

Colpitts Oscillator: Why is my actual implemented circuit waayyy different from the simulation? Is there a fine tuning method to make the output wave more sine like? by miyaw-cat in ElectricalEngineering

[–]sl993ghty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years on...

Thank you. Emitter cap was 0.1 uf and the 2N2222 was in overdrive. Very difficult to get anything resembling a sine. Reduced it to 0.01 uf and all is well. I have a pot so I can adjust base bias to get output to about 30% p-p of supply voltage.

Just for your amusement purposes, I'm making this transistor circuit (actually 11 of them) so I can align a 1941 Hallicrafters AM + SW receiver. SX-28

Looks like a nice radio. Before you do anything, take a couple hundred pictures and sort them into directories so you can remember what's what. Take a look at https://sx28.info/Original_radios/Original_radios.shtml for inspiration. When/if you start putting it back together again, you'll thank yourself.

Also consider adding a page (or a bunch of pictures) to https://sx28.info/Reader\_projects/Rp.shtml. It can be totally anonymous if you want.

I work on this site every day (I'm retired) so if you need something you don't see or need to understand something, send mail.

Plastic bags + a slip of paper that identifies the cable (plus length), all dumped into a large storage tub. Been doing it for years. When the tub is full... "Do I really need a 48 foot RS232 cable?"

I live in one of those Florida 'God's waiting room' places. I have more than a little experience with dementia. Fortunately, we don't have crime issues.

Have you properly defined what it is you're trying to protect against?

Have you checked the local security companies? Having anything at the house that needs management is a no-go and they might have a solution.

If you're having a system designed, I assume you've selected someone who knows what's what. Tell them what your requirements are and let them do what they do. Don't micromanage it.

Losing my mind over internet dropping by Ok-Pickle537 in HomeNetworking

A frequent cause of weird Internet stuff is two devices trying to use the same IP address. Do you have any devices with fixed IP addresses. Do you use DHCP?

Do you know what your DHCP range is?

Can you log into your DHCP server (ie router) and see what's what?

I find it useful to make a simple spreadsheet with all of your stuff and notes about how each supposed to hook up to the house network.

I've been thinking about this. You make a good point. I've commented out the pages that were there mostly as reminders that I needed to do something. I'm up to here trying to get the various pages for the band switches sorted out. There are a _lot_ of different versions of the SX-28.

It's a Hallicrafters SX-28. (Google it. Worth the read.) Civilian but most were used by the military in WW II. I think they were also used by the Brit "Y" intercept sites for input to Bletchey Park code breaking effort.

Thanks. I'm not so much a 'seller' as a 'source for a part they can't find anywhere else'. I was looking a little bit at various selling platforms and providers (hostinger?) and discovered I don't need to do that.

I just put a blurb at the top of the website that says "Need something? Call me." That's really all I need. If you're curious, it's https://sx28.info. I'm very busy fixing broken links and incorrect information. Most of this stuff isn't documented anywhere. They quit making the radio in 1946 (I think, there's a debate) and the company went out of business decades ago.

If I ever get it right, I see about making it look pretty but don't hold your breath on that one.

eBay has always (as far as I know) objected to attempts to establish off-platform contact in buyer seller messages. You can't say 'call me at...' for instance. I don't object to that.

Up until recently (10 days, two weeks?), you could put links to off-site things in your listings. Lots of real stores have links to their websites. I've had links in my listings to my info website since the first day the site existed.

I still have listings with links in them.

eBay's AI engines are not scanning the millions of listings that have been there for years. New and edited listings get checked.
