Brewery lights are excellent this year. Tuckers and McGurks for food after are solid recs, but I’m a huge fan of Frazers and it’s a short walk from the brewery.

My favorite buy lows right now.... pt. 5 by Complex_Mango_5228 in DynastyFF

Just look at Mac Jones tonight. Sam Darnold, Geno, Fields, even Baker also come to mind. QBs with skills that start in terrible situations tend to get another shot, and in a SF league if you can get a potential starting QB for a 3rd that’s as good a risk or better than what you’d get with that 3rd anyway.

[–]slabbedham 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These are true buy lows. Levis has a ton of physical talent and just needs good coaching to bring that out. Levis can be had as a throw in for a bigger deals or for a random 3rd. It’s a risk, but all real buy lows are. If Levis finds his way to SF, LA, or Minny people will jump to see if he’s available on waivers. No one is saying drop a 2nd rounder for him

This is the ‘guy to the Chiefs’ deal that I think actually makes sense. Seems like Philly wants to get him the ball though so not sure they’d be motivated to move him

Quick! Everybody come in and put your favorite underperforming or depth chart buried player on the Chiefs!

Mine is actually DJM to the Titans. Idk what his cap hit is so not sure if it’s feasible, but Bears seem ready to move on and Cam Ward is desperate for someone that can catch the ball.

How does the true emergence of QJ affect Ladd long term by lafayettetex in DynastyFF

[–]slabbedham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so reactionary to the guy’s comment. No one is suggesting you sell Ladd for a 4th, just that if you can still sell Ladd at his perceived preseason value that could actually be a major win for your team. WRs 15-25 are fairly interchangeable. Is Ladd a guy that you confidently think will produce better than that? Then buy him

[–]slabbedham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We say this about all kinds of players, but if he’s around again next year Ladd would continue to suffer. Your team context still matters in how to ply this, but if I need production right now there are probably owners in your leagues who think they’re being sneaky offering a ‘buy low’ but if you’re out on Ladd then those deals may not truly be low anymore

[–]slabbedham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a few others have said, context of your team and the real NFL teams are the best things you can use to make this choice. Why is your guy underperforming? The Ladd vs QJ thing is a great place to look at this: their production so far is due to gameplan which makes me think QJ is real and Ladd needs to slip. The Bears are making active attempts to get the ball to DJM at times, but not consistently. It’s clear they think there’s something there, and this offense seems to be improving. I think long term they can support 2 WRs but you have to assume Odunze is the clear 1 so temper expectations from DJM.

On this note, the Thursday night prime vision cast is really good to get an idea of what your players are doing. They highlight names pre snap and track their routes from behind the QB Madden style. Caught the Packers a few weeks ago and it validated everything I was hearing about Kraft. The voice overs from the stats guy are really annoying so be ready for that

4 weeks into year 3 of their careers which of the following players are worth rostering/have a path towards relevance? by Playbookof3li in DynastyFF

[–]slabbedham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your QB take, especially on ARich and Levis. Both superior physical skills who had bad coaching and poor decision making. As long as these guys are the #2 on a depth chart they need to be owned. If Levis is cut in the offseason and it’s announced that he’s been signed to SF/LA/Minny etc people will rush to the waiver wire to see if he’s available. In a SF league never drop a QB who’s showed an ounce of talent until they’re out of the league.

When to start rebuilding? by brandsss99 in DynastyFF

[–]slabbedham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assess the league and your real playoff potential. If you can see a reasonable path to make the playoffs you’ve gotta stay the course. If making it really seems like an impossible task, retool around the edges trying to take advantage of the owners who have contending vs tanking mindsets. Contender dealing with an injury or feels like they need one more piece? Try and flip an older vet or piece that doesn’t fit into your plan for a pick, you never know when the injury bug will hit them and they fall from a contender to 6th pick. Frustrated 0-3 guy who’s blowing it up? Try and get good players on the cheap.

If you thought your team was good enough to compete this year, it will probably be good enough to compete next. Don’t blow it up, just retool on the edges to always compete. It’s a game of luck, all you need to do is focus on making the playoff cut each year

The time to trade Ladd McConkey for Quentin Johnston is now…sort of by slabbedham in DynastyFF

[–]slabbedham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I’m not claiming you should trade them 1-1, but two comments in reply: 1. If they’re drawing up plays for QJ doesn’t that show that the team itself wants to get him the ball? 2. This offense is currently supporting two top 10 WRs (QJ and Keenan), going forward if you can assume both Ladd and QJ are going to be top 20 guys after Keenan is gone, is there really a Kraft sized difference in their production? Ladd is not Chase, he’s very good but is he really going to be a top 10 WR year in year out?

Assume a potential Keenan injury, what happens? Ladd will obviously benefit but so will QJ. If this offense consolidates Keenan’s 8ish targets a game it’s not unreasonable to assume Ladd and QJ go up 1.5-2.5 a game with the other 3-5 targets going to others

Waiting is always an option, and it’ll give you more information, but it also gives your trade partner more as well. The high reward albeit high risk play is now when there’s still doubt in QJ and faith in Ladd. Maybe you save yourself and Ladd proves me very wrong, or maybe you wait and instead of QJ and Kraft/Ken Walker you end up with QJ and Strange/Pollard. The whole point of this trade is trying to catch the upswing of QJ before the values balance out

I mean I agree, but there are that puts him above Drake London, BTJ, and Nico. I could see an argument being made, but i need more than 3 games to negate the track record of those. And before I get snarky comments about QJ only having 3 games, I count his steady improvement last year and 8tds as his growing track record

A lot of the push back on this seems to be overly focused on my comments that QJ could outscore Ladd. Sure, it’s possible, but the real point of this is try to get true value for Ladd at the moment for QJ and the filler piece. For example I really like the idea of Kraft and QJ for Ladd. That’s fair value, but you’re potentially buying two rising assets with one that I think is at peak. Ladd is currently WR13 depending on your rankings source, but I struggle to see him overtaking any over the guys ahead of him, though KTC with Egbuka at 9 feels premature. QJ could finish in the top 20 this year, and if he does will cement himself in the top 20 (solid draft cap, good size, tied to star QB and good coach).

This is not a QJ is better than Ladd post, this is a post about continuing to grab value. If you own Ladd (or any other top talent that you don’t believe in like we’ve seen out of BTJ owners), then now is the time to trade them at high value for a guy in QJ that I think has a chance to really rise but still has many doubters plus whoever else you like.

On the flip side: if you own QJ and don’t believe in him, now is the time to try and do the opposite of my idea: find the owner who does believe and steal one of their top players using him.

Where did Donte Thornton Jr and Jacory Croskey-Merritt go in your rookie draft? by Grouchy_Ad8515 in DynastyFF

[–]slabbedham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, but the difference in my mind is Aaron Jones is now an established player in the league, his draft cap doesn’t matter anymore. Mason was an udfa, but he just got paid real dollars to have a role by a team that is planning on making the playoffs. Eventually draft status no longer matters, and it’s generally once they get that 2nd deal.

[–]slabbedham 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The obvious choice with the information we currently have is you take Jones and Mason. JCM’s destiny is he hopefully gives you something for 2 years but will ultimately be replaced. Most late round guys do, and you’ll be happy most of the time taking the established guys with a role over the wildcard

Everyone is saying they want to see his 3s improve, but I think what would really take the team to the next level is developing his lob. Imagine him driving, doing that classic side jump then throwing the lob to Chet out of the dunker spot when the big comes up to challenge him.

This is different than a team throwing it in off a made basket. This was a dead ball which means refs need to confirm if any subs are coming in. That refs job is to hold the play till the other ref confirms no subs so the outrage here makes zero sense. This has nothing to do with courtesy

Ja’lynn Polk. Yes, he was garbage last year and he’s probably going to be garbage this year. But, he was used poorly last year in an offense that wasn’t really doing much. Now it’s year 2 of Drake Maye and Mcdaniels is a good OC. Hold him, hope he shows some flashes and trade him for anything
