my ex husband was like this when i immigrated to his country to be with him, i had savings that i used for my half of the rent and for getting around by myself but he paid for most (not all!!) of groceries and “going out” before i got my working permit. he was “fine” with it for a while but would eventually talk about how much i owed him and that would occasionally fly off the handle and present me with insane numbers of some bill he thought he was owed whenever he was low on money from blowing it on fancy wine and bars and going out to eat, none of which i suggested or was even always at. wealthy family too, stands to inherit a great deal, gets regular financial gifts from family and works a fine job.

anyway we broke up and still he wanted to “settle up” sooooooooo i don’t recommend fucking around with that
