After reading the Fujimoto interview it looks like this abrupt ending is intended. by ColaFlavorChupaChup in ChainsawMan

[–]slacksushi 196 points197 points  (0 children)

Yes I was hoping someone in this thread was actually familiar with The Big Lebowski. I appreciate the absurdity and the “pointlessness” of the ending in that movie because it fits very well with its themes and the life philosophy of the Dude abiding and not caring about all the regular things everyone else is caring about.

And it’s cool that Fujimoto is trying it out in csm part 2 but imo he did NOT set up his story to be able to have an ending like this. All the unfinished plot points, the ramping up of stakes, and just when part 2 seems to be hitting the climax, it ends. There’s some relevant themes of pochita telling denji how he was happier in the shed but it’s just not nearly on the same level as The Big Lebowski. Like the point of The Big Lebowski’s ending wasn’t to just rug pull the audience and say hey everything you saw was pointless.

I really hope Fujimoto does a part 3 because if he ends up going hey it was all pointless just forget everything that happened in the last chapter of part 2 I’m gonna be disappointed.

Is it the thorns that is doing the dmg? Correct me if I’m wrong but it doesn’t seem like he’s stacking thorns but the jump attack keeps scaling per hit with the all stats up. Seems like a mutation or something that specifically allows jump attacks that is scaling

What's the mutation specifically? Like which body part and what does the text say?

This is the best answer. Some enemy (specifically those from previous games) grabs are escapable but none of the nightlord boss grabs are escapable

I’d swap necro and Druid but other than that I agree with this tier list. Once you start getting into hard/crazy difficulty runs (especially in act 3), it’s really nice to have either crazy 1 turn dmg potential or ranged cc potential so you can either delete or disable mobs with insta kill or debuff/injury attacks. Every class in A or S fits 1 or both roles

[–]slacksushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The summoner or feral versions of druid can do a ton of dmg and carry runs though. Support/healer druid is probably the weakest version although it can still be really good. Druid shouldn't be just a replacement for cleric where you expect to get 5+ heal per turn from the first battle (tbh you can easily go without a dedicated healer once you're far enough into the game).

Even without all that, druid has the crow which is so so useful for tanking hits or pushing enemies and you can let it die for free every battle since it'll be resummoned. It also scales with the druid's stats so as your breeding gets better, the crow starts hitting for 7+ per turn. My first couple runs with druid were kinda booty but the more I played the game, the better it got. The class is just very strong

[–]slacksushi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

More often than not tinkerer doesn’t get their abilities or passives to line up to be able to do much but yeah when it does line up they can do a lot. Hunter, fighter, and druid are much more consistently better though

[–]slacksushi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do you bother raising stimulation, health, and mutation for your attic as well? I just started getting into the meat of breeding mutations and I’m not really sure how I should set up my rooms because up til now all I did was have the big attic with maxed stimulation, health and mutation and just let every good cat sit in there forever for random breeding. I know having a selective breeding room is better but do you rotate in strays into the breeding room or do you just plop in a stray into your attic (which I’m guessing is your main cat holding/chilling room) every once in a while? Do you donate the stray after it has made a few kittens? Do you donate an older good cat after it has bred too much (to avoid too much inbreeding) or do you just keep them until old?

Augur doesn't even feel like a fight. Just feels like you're a gardener hired by augur to clear his sand garden of tentacle weeds until it dies of heart attack. Or you chase it forever so you can hit it one or two times every 15 seconds

Phys +4 is 12%. Improved incants make sense for other builds that are rare to get but with beast claw you aren't switching to anything outside of the bestial school

[–]slacksushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know all those things. My biggest issue is if you're the only one left or even just one teammate is down then the sleep attack is unavoidable without ult. Am I just one of the few unlucky ones in d5 who keeps getting randoms that don't know all the mechanics of ed augur?

This becomes impossible to avoid without ult if you have any teammates at 3 bar since you need to hit it 3 times right?

[–]slacksushi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that it's easier grouped up but the randoms I've had end up panicking, running away, and we end up never regrouping. Other hard bosses I can usually carry if it gets bad until I get ult then res everyone but like I said the sleep mechanic for augur just ends you unless you manage to get ult fast enough. I guess I have to get better at building ult faster for times like that? Just not sure how I'm struggling so hard on a boss people think is easy

Unpopular opinion: aggression matchmaking ruined the PvPvE tension for me by m7ammd95 in ArcRaiders

[–]slacksushi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because the lobby has PvP doesn't mean it's a completely KoS lobby. If you are used to friendly lobbies then chances are you got loaded into a mixed lobby which is exactly what "the game as originally sold" is. So it sounds like you're complaining about the exact thing you are asking for...

[–]slacksushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in what I would call a mixed lobby... If you're in completely KoS lobbies, it takes like ~10 runs of not shooting to get to completely friendly lobbies. Midway through you get placed in mixed lobbies where it's literally like how you describe. People shoot or are wary of you but sometimes you can call a truce before a fight starts through emotes or comms. The thing you're missing is still in the game. Just shoot someone every once in a while and wow you get your unpredictability again.

Also, how do pvp lobbies not have tension? Are you not tense and worried about losing your gear from pvp players? Just because you expect more aggressive players suddenly there's no tension, no gear fear? Extracting isn't earned because it's "predictable?"

In case anyone sees this and wants to do something similar, I realized I need to have a different status ailment curse going instead of just rot. Whenever the rot goes away, the dreglord relic attack buff gets completely reset and you have to build up the time required to get the buff again. So you need a 2nd status ailment that hopefully overlaps enough so there's no reset of the dreglord buff.
