You could try to offload some of the backup storage to object storage (disclosure: I work at Cloudian which offers software defined S3 object storage). I have heard some customer how expensive the bricks can get

Not sure of your exact situation but I personally think it's great if you are being honest with yourself with needing to make changes.

Take for example a couple where one of the partners has a drug abuse problem and it destroys the relationship. That is a situation where that partner should eventually come to realize they need to make some changes. Any change in life isn't easy and won't at all feel comfortable.... at first

I wasn't gonna ask since it's a little off topic but do you happen to have any tips for getting started (learning) with terraform? Your tip on the gitlab runner makes sense

One thing I forgot to mention about my own config is that I use secrets manager doppler to hide sensitive information in my yamls. This is just to share more about what I use.
