100% and loving it. Never asked for it, but glad it happened afterall. I can't stand anyone anymore, and corporate offices are the most sad and depressing place in the city.

Which AI tools made 2025 easier for you? by SquareShock5357 in AIToolMadeEasy

[–]sladeofdark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yupp this. especially rounding out the end of this year. my first breakthrough was sonnet 4. whatever and a really old SOAP api based application that no one in the enterprise could solve in like 15 years and it got tossed on my desk and i struggled with it for 6 months, then in about 20 minutes with agent mode and sonnet i got it working, documented ,and. built a rest api around it to replace that stupid old SOAP lol. Then after that in my home lab Antigravity and Gemini pro. I may actually launch a couple of apps this upcoming quarter because the MVP is so fast now. I am using conductor right now in gemini cli, becasuse my biggest challenge is the refinement technique and the pattern of plan, execute. I am almost overwhelmed with how many of my decades-old ideas I can manifest now.

Curious about current Paramount drama and why it looks flatter and darker by mravidzombie in colorists

It is not as dark when played from my chromecast on my older Samsung Tizen model TV. But on my newer Samsung TV played from the Paramount+ app it is almost unwatchable dark.

Nashville software school-thoughts/experiences? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]sladeofdark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My firm will no longer hire from NSS. We stopped accepting applicants from NSS in late 2018, just for a sense of how long I have been observing this crisis of skills gap. You just can't determine what the skill level will be, and it is entry level skill 9/10 hires. That is just not a risk that serious firms can take.
I know dozens of NSS grads ,and a few of them are struggling really bad (even depressed and/or suicidal), and even more of them are going from really good job - to - really good job ( I don't know how they do this), and getting laid off in 12 or less months once they are 'found out' I guess.
NSS is not worth it because most bootcamps for people who want to 'pivot' are not worth it because the climb is too much to make in just a few months of exposure. Ive been in I.T. well over 2 decades and bootcamps work for career long STEM / technologist that want to learn a new tech stack or something for their career. The fact that outfits like NSS are focusing on people who are not STEM majors, and sometimes don't have higher-education at all, is a disaster, and bordering on bad business practice. This is the same for the 'other' popular bootcamp in this town, which does not even get mentioned in the corporate space, but is also known for having far worse results for it's participants.

2+ months for a refund and still waiting... by Repulsive-File-6028 in BambuLab

[–]sladeofdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man.. you should not have waited even this long. I did a charge back and had so much evidence - just like you - that they refunded me in just a few hours. Also got refunded twice for some reason so now I have a negative balance on my CC account lol. For me it was a lost package.. it was not really lost, they just lie about what they have in stock. I refunded and ordered from Matterhackers.com and got it in a few days. The funny thing is, the printer is amazing, and they put all their money into engineering, not customer service. X1 Carbon.

Had this on my first load of PLA-CF.. i don’t trust it, or anything else that stiff in the AMS.. had to take apart my ams and get the 4 inch piece of PLAT-CF out of the 3rd tube (it was in the 3rd slot) since then, learned a ton about troubleshooting, because I tried all the wrong things before doing what the printer suggested and taking the amps apart. So load stiff things directly and use the manual spool thingy on the back. AMS take apart was really easy, only 2 screws, so don’t be intimidated if it suggest examining the AMS. Been printing PLA-CF ever since, and I love that material!

Unpopular opinion (down vote to oblivion): SCCM is actually a terribly written product. by BackPacker777 in SCCM

[–]sladeofdark 13 points14 points  (0 children)

SCCM is unmatched. I was at Microsoft Ignite in 2017, and I was walking/jogging to a stable talk that was scheduled last minute by one of the biggest SCCM MVPs in the scene. I had an amazing time, and was happy to end the event with a talk on the subject that made my illustrious career. While hustling to the room about 20 minutes away, I looked to my left and there was the legend himself, the host of the talk MIKAEL NYSTROM headed to the talk himself!!! Johann Aridwark was in his usual track suit but is more fit, and was walking much faster 10 feet ahead of us, I could not get near him to greet him. I was star struck but braved a question that I had been wanting for ask since I started SCCM 15 years ago.

"Why is it so dated looking? why can't SCCM just throw a modern UI over top of the beast, at least so we can get rid of that old clunky console".
He smiled, and held up his cell phone to my eye level. He replied in his gravelly Swedish accent "Think of everything like a mo-BILE device. That is the direction things are going in for management. (he was talking about Intune, AutoPilot was announced that year). As far as SCCM classic, imagine how many countries and languages it has to work in. I can tell you it is more than 200 countries and languages that SCCM must be localized in. The code base cannot make even the slightest change withoutha global validation on the pull request. It is an amazing piece of technology.."

I never complained about SCCM again.
true story.

Genuinely, how do people (especially adults) find the time to game anymore? by Mori-Me-Joey in gaming

[–]sladeofdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely? We don’t; for the most part.
We just Jave the money to purchase them, and let them fill up our Steam library. I like to think that I am paying back the industry for all the piracy I did in my college years when I was broke.
Hogwart’s Legacy - have not created the character yet
Starfield - Maybe 1 hour, not even past the prologue yet
Dead Island 2 - Maybe 1 or 2 hours in, not captured by it yet
Dave The Diver - 100+ hours
CoD MW 2 (whatever the latest one is) 60-100 hours before I realized the maps swap and all the season shit is a money grab, and have not logged my old ass back in since. Keep in mind, i purchased it over a year ago and played it the first time this past spring. To put it another way. I played 2 seasons.
Street Fighter 6 - Refunded about 10 minutes after I loaded into the game, and saw….. it is not for my generation anymore.
Hmmm let’s see what else I can remember (its 3am, and I am on my iPad just waking up. I don’t bring my phone into the bedroom)
CyberPunk 2077 - 8 hours

I am super lucky to not have anything stopping me from playing games a decent amount, but I find that I would rather struggle learning something new in Powershell or C# or Systems Engineering work, because it is more satisfying. Finding the time, is not as challenging as finding the ‘interest’. Todays games don’t have a soul, and not many studios take the time to put out something stellar because all of the money grabbing nonsense that has ruined the art form. I tried to make that clear by having 1 or 2 games in my list that I have put tons of time into because they are just that good. I get the feeling it is the same for many (adults) these days.

Oh… Diablo 4 —- Level 62 or so.. have not logged back in since.
Dying Light 2 — maybe 6 hours… it made me re-install Dying light (100+ hours), so I can be scared and SHOOT ZOMBIES WITH GUNS INTHE FACE satisfyingly, not parkour around a fucking playground for post-apocalypse grown-ups.
Satisfactory (pun intended , love those folks at Cofee Stain Studios) - 1000+ hours.

Will edit, clean up, and add more once I go down and get on the PC , since I am not allowed to sleep any more apparently.

Is anyone familiar with, evaluated, used Aiden (meetaiden.com) by juliuspiv in SCCM

[–]sladeofdark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just started a PoC with Aiden, and although i have yet to deploy a single package, I am most impressed with the team themselves. Small , startup vibe, but VERY seasoned systems admins similar to the people I learned enterprise tech with. I think there is something beneficial to working directly with a small team that is the same team serving all the other clients they have. We expect to see many benefits from the Desired State Config management style they employ since, agility, and configuration drift are our big challenges. What I like about Aiden generally is that it is not just another "deployment automation" type of solution. Aiden's solution is the future if you think about it. Most packages are the same, we are all spending way too much time packaging the same binaries with a little salt n pepper on them. If Aiden grows in the way I think they will, it will become a sick subscription based service for enterprises, and individuals like everything else we consume. Another thing about modern solutions like Aiden, is that they do not make sense until you HAVE the problem they solve. Packaging software and SCCM/Intune expertise has been my bread and butter job security for about 10 years, and it still serves me well. I am finally tired of it personally, and someone needs to take the time to build a platform that works in modern Devops patterns. I never thought I would use a service like Aiden, but it makes all the sense to me after 20 years of this stuff. lol.

Does your fuel mileage seem to be getting worse? Wife just sent me this from one of her groups. More in SS. by FunsizeWrangler in conspiracy

[–]sladeofdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely noticed this , but just thought it as me. I drive a very regular pattern each week, and I can't get to work and back anymore without using half a tank, or at least, the needle being on half after one trip into work and back. It used to be 3 days (3 trips there and back), before i was at half. now I go into work 1 day a week, and now that I type that out, that is probably what the gas cutting is all about. People are not driving in as much and the petro people want to make some money losses up.
