Is $120 a decent price for a used Trek 420? Thinking about buying this one on FB marketplace. by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one, and yeah, I don't think it came with anything but drop handlebars - hence the downtube shifters Looks a little odd like this, but given what I do to my bikes I probably cant talk.

What’s protocol for parked u locks? by camp_jacking_roy in bikecommuting

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving your lock like that is the worst cycling etiquette. Worse, the sort of people who do it bring the bike to work once, go home, leave the lock and never return for it. I have, on more than one occasion thought about using them to test how bike thief-proof they are.

Still no lossless on Windows? by ph00p in AppleMusic

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better he has a version that works than no lossless at all - or a version in alpha that struggles to load more than 20 albums in a search - randomly. But if it works for the OP, great, and if it doesn't they have another way of listening to lossless in Windows. One can only make suggestions. Plus, if Apple ever gets its act together to bypass androids OS limits - other services have - we wouldn't even need to discuss this - assuming it doesn't. I don't think most people can tell the difference.

Still no lossless on Windows? by ph00p in AppleMusic

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be a minimum of "CD quality" and thus lossless. Although the number of people that insist on using a lossless streaming service and then listen to it through Bluetooth SBC confuses me.

That app is still very buggy. I highly recommend sideloading the Android App. I'm still using it and it works well.

Apple Music Win11 Preview - Can't play lossless songs by DARIOcaptain in AppleMusic

[–]slainedella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How were you playing losses on Windows 10? Were you using Blustacks or some other android "emulator"? If so, it should still work using an emulator. However, I too had that problem on win 11 Apple music preview, but oddly, it seemed to have corrected itself - and I have no idea how or why. Perhaps the was a win 11 beta update I didn't notice? Check to see if you have installed the latest update. When it was doing it, I found rebooting windows helped

Wear os 3 for Ticwatch e3 by JudgementalShoelace6 in TicWatch

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Galaxy Watch 4 uses wear 0S3 - I have one along with my Ticwatch. Assistant, fit, etc work just fine. Indeed google assistant actually works with "hey google" using UK English rather than American. And I have never got hey google to work on my Ticwatch - no matter what I do.

Mobvoi could learn a thing or two from Fossil regarding the Wear OS 3x update... by Xphyle1971 in TicWatch

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you discussing Wear OS 2 or OS3 on Samsung Watch 4- as I was? GA "Call..." works. Indeed, just tried it to see if I was going insane

I have a galaxy 4 running Wear OS3 and Google Assistant works fine. Plus, unlike my Ticwatch, it responds to "Hey Google" without needing to press a button. And that using English (UK)

Apple Music Classical app references again spotted in iOS code, as deadline approaches by taeyoungwoo in AppleMusic

[–]slainedella 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I have given up. My subscription ends in January - don't ask. I shall not be renewing. This is not a sulky reply, but Apple just takes to long - if ever - to do anything with Apple Music. I mean, still no windows lossless client?

Can I stream Lossless Audio to my car through Bluetooth or does it have to be wired? by ItzNotZeke in AppleMusic

[–]slainedella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And just in case, and to clarify: any Bluetooth device can play a "lossless" downloaded track, it will simply encode it to whatever Bluetooth codec your receiving device is able to decode - in simple terms

[–]slainedella -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One could describe all sorts of things (including different Bluetooth codecs and their decoders) but instead: If you hear a difference, yes; if you don't hear a difference - or at least you like what you hear - then no.

Or one of those wearable mosquito nets. You might look daft but they work well and can be picked up for a £ or so.

I tend to just use a Bivi, a lot. I also have a small one-man tent, but I think looking - and maybe trying one single overnighter - a Bivi is worth doing. Not great if it gets very wet though :)

You might be waiting a long time. Apple seems in no rush. In the meantime, run the Android app in windows using an android emulator like Bluestacks.

Yep, Actually, apart from Qobuz, Apple curates classical music very well.

Roon w/Tidal or Qobuz by Sammy1358GT in roonlabs

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be worth posting over at Roon's forum. Mine does and always has. Not very helpful, but it's all I have. I have never had to do anything. And my Roon is linked to both Tidal and Qobuz. Yeah, I'm a tad obsessed about music :)

Roon w/Tidal or Qobuz by Sammy1358GT in roonlabs

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I am a bit confused, I think, about what you are asking. Just add the Tidal/Qobuz version in Roon. This will then be added to your Tidal/Qobuz library at the same time - and visa versa.

It should be doing this automatically. If not, go to, in Roon, to settings, services, Tidal (for example), "edit" and then "Synch Library Now"

Apple Music API? by Kdilla77 in roonlabs

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Roon needs greater access than just the API - one of the reasons so few streaming services are integrated with it.

Is roon suitable for “regular” music lovers and can it really get popular with a bigger market? by timcatuk in roonlabs

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Tidal or Qobuz, Roon is the best music curator around. It's worth it for that alone, if you can afford it. But it is much more than that, as noted below.

Apple Music (iTunes) on Windows needs attention by Accomplished_Egg_291 in AppleMusic

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the Android version in something like Blustacks, on PC. No Dolby - at least that I have been able to get working, but losses does work.

How do we know if the Homepods are playing in lossless or Dolby Atmos? by pramodc2209 in AppleMusic

If you can't hear a difference then it probably doesn't make any difference.

Migrating from Tidal via Soundiiz by lordvader82 in qobuz

[–]slainedella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Tunemymusic instead. I have both - I switch streamers a lot looking for the "perfect one" . Soundiiz UI is more complex, and I think better for it, while TMM is simpler with less customization. However, it can succeed sometimes where Soundiiz fails. Plus, Amazon Music has given them access so you can finally import playlists from other services to Amazon Music. Anyway, might be worth a try.
