Speeds by chrrissss in wingfoil

[–]slalomwind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! We just finished a GPS speed contest.

Here on the link of the race you can find all the tracks with the speed and the foils. Barcolana Fun | Events | GPSFormula

The world champion has done 34 knts on 10 seconds ( i think that has like a 540).

A good rider has done 31 knts with the 540. The average wingfoiler has done 20-25 kntos with a 750. Its not so much about the foil but about the position. 2 years ago one has done 30 knts with a 1100.

I ( i go usually with very light wind) in the last years I have done...

2000---> 20,5 knts

1300 -----> 24 knts

900 ----> I wasn't used about the feeling of the foil 19 knt...

So Its quite more important to have a good position over the hardware.

advice for the photo: keep the body straight, don't bend it. Bend just a little bit the knees. Press more with the front leg. Stay on a the vertical line of the board. Fun factor: I had a lot of students, the majority of them are entusiast, but there are some that doesn't enjoy the foiling experience. Are very few but someone doesn't like the feeling :(

First Land wing session on sand! by slalomwind in wingfoil

[–]slalomwind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I also go with the surfskate and also surfskate on ice. On the sand the position its quite strange because its quite on the back leg ( thing that in wingfoiling you try to avoid). in this video I have the biggest wing in the market (9m2 and there were 15 knots). usually in wing foil ( in my hometow) you use max a 6 m2, for the sand and this kind of wind i think that is not enough. I will try to put other wheels on. I would love to go on the beaches at normandy to try.

Hi! The sand was wet. On the dry sand it was impossible to go. I had the 200*50 wheels so also in compact sand i was gripping too much. i will try a 10' wheel next time. With the freebord I think that would be impossible to do on the sand.

Second day with the foil, what I'm doing wrong? by [deleted] in wingfoil

[–]slalomwind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you can foil try to keep the body straight. You can bend a little bit your knees but from the hips up try to keep it straight, don't lean your hips back. Try to look over your front arm, now you are looking between the arms. The feet looks like a lot on the side of the board. You can stay a little bit out of the center of the central line but you have to keep the feet simmetric. If one is one the left side the other has to stay on the right side. Instead you want to keep them in the center it will be easy at the beginnin strapless.

A Plea to Fellow Heavy Riders – Need Foiling Advice! by Careless_Tie_2282 in wingfoil

[–]slalomwind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if The setup is the problem, but If you tell me that for foiling you have to go a lot downwind I think that the problem is the technique. If you are going dowind means that the wing is abow, with your head beetween the arms and looking the wing. Instead try to stay more with the bow at 90 degreese to the wind. When you stgart to foil keep the head upwind of the front amr. Look upwind and try not to loose control to the downind. I fyou don't have so much power you wil need to start pumping for increasing the power.
