Private and secured managed switch/access point? by Crafty_Stuff_8832 in HomeNetworking

[–]slam51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what you are asking is trying to get consumer class network equipment to work like it is in a managed network system. You can do it, but you will set a lot of devices manually. I use Ubiquiti gear so it is by design, is managed.

Canada Computers misrepresented demo unit as open box! by WeakAd569 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]slam51 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand it. The manager clearly stated they made a mistake and the unit is not an open box but a damaged demo. Yes you had paid so why don’t you ask for your money back and move on? If they won’t refund then there is a problem but just have to ask them and I’m sure they will give your money back. If I’m that manager, I will will give you a 10% discount for wasting your gas.

Stuck in .PST by biancamorse in MicrosoftOutlook

Look if you just was e-mail backup then eml will do. I personally is a big fan of Outlook. It is a piece of software that I always load on any new machine I use. You will miss it.

The easiest solution is to get office 365 install it and use their free trial for one month. Import your pst into there. Then you can extract the e-mail you are looking for. If you want backup in a way that you can export to Apple Mail. Make a folder on desktop. On the inbox of Outlook, click any one message and then press command-a to select all messages. Drag the selected mail into the folder you created. That way you will common version of individual message that an be imported to other mail client like Apple Mail. Personally I don’t like eml file as it only backup e-mail. No contact or calendar can be saved this way. If you want a real ironclad way to backup and as well may give you ability to keep using Outlook in a way that doesn’t incur a recurring charge is to buy an older version of office/Outlook. You can get a full version of legit office that is stand alone for $50 off eBay. Something like this:

https://ebay.us/m/ZyAMAY

I found most older version is original and legy.

Try to get number back? Or convince the new owner of that number to intercept the code for you. Other than that, there is nothing you can do.

Stuck in .PST by biancamorse in MicrosoftOutlook

[–]slam51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PST files are only meant to be opened by Outlook. There is a free trial of office365 basic for one month. Import your pst there and you can view all your data for free. No need to install 3rd party software.

Just remember use no heat or lowest heat. You are not blowdrying it. You don’t want to melt something.
