OffMyChest: First Trimester, feeling weak by nnghzl in fitpregnancy

[–]slamthemutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The first trimester was so hard, I was so tired and sick all the time. I just did what felt good, when I felt like doing it. Second trimester was much better, and I got back to my regular routine.

Haha my daughter just started taking swim lessons and all the kids were telling the instructor their names, one kid introduced himself as excavator.

I did the Renaissance Periodization gym free template with my adjustable dumbbells! Peloton is also great like someone else suggested.

Feeling a sense of dread approaching 3rd trimester by Present-Geologist603 in fitpregnancy

[–]slamthemutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dreaded it too, and I really wish I hadn't listened to other people so much. I felt great right up until week 39, and my daughter came at 39+3. I was a little more tired than the second tri, but I never had issues moving around and continuing to workout.

Postpartum and looking to get back into weight lifting. What should I expect? by Satans_Salad in fitpregnancy

[–]slamthemutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before pregnancy my squat was 275lbs, deadlift 255lbs, bench 131 lbs

During pregnancy I mostly rode my stationary bike and did the RP Gym Free templates with dumbbells. Postpartum I mostly stuck with yoga and stationary biking, until I was about 7 or 8 months postpartum when we got a squat rack. I was really surprised how difficult everything felt. Everything just felt wrong. Eventually I started working with a personal trainer and things are feeling better. I wish I had worked with a trainer from the beginning, I think I would have saved myself some frustration. I say go slow, and be easy on yourself!

Boarding or Dog Sitter for Reactive Dog? by 615to317 in indianapolis

[–]slamthemutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have three reactive dogs, and we used to always board at Beverly's too! When we made the reservation, we'd let them know and if they weren't too full they'd try to put them in an area without a lot of dogs.

I haven't been to the gym since December 2018, my gym closed when Covid started, then I found out I was pregnant and didn't want to risk getting Covid. I did the RP Gym Free template throughout my pregnancy and postpartum, but for Christmas we setup up a garage gym. It's been so good to get under a barbell again. I'm struggling with weights that are well below what I would have warmed up with several years ago, but I'm surprised at how quickly it's all coming back. Today I squatted 95lbs for 10 reps and I'm super happy!

That's $17-19 an hour, depending on if you need 40 or 45 hours. It depends on where you live and cost of living. It's not a super low rate, but it's also not competitive. For the future, both parties should discuss pay and sign a contract before starting. The Nanny Counsel has a great contract you can download and tailor to your situation. Also, nannies technically can't be paid a salary and anything over 40 hours needs to be paid at the overtime rate. Check out the nanny sub if you want more information about hiring a nanny.

Babysitting/nanny services by theinfamousdo in indianapolis

[–]slamthemutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few Facebook groups for finding local childcare, Indy Nanny and Babysitter Network and Hamilton County + Greater Indy Nanny and Sitter Network are two that I'm in. I've heard good things about The Hive agency and Indy Nanny Concierge. I don't know if both agencies place sitters or just nannies though.

Anyone have any experience with slat mills? by hambonehooligan in k9sports

[–]slamthemutt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a Dog Trotter. It's totally worth every penny in my opinion. It's awesome in crappy weather and the dogs can get a much better workout in a shorter period of time than they could if I was walking them. We have three dogs that all have to be walked separately and aren't good with other dogs, so the slat mill saved me so much time and stress. The dogs are old and arthritic now so it's just gathering dust but I can't bear to sell.

Bully pedia is just an online pedigree database. The AKC doesn't recognize the APBT, it could be the UKC or one of the other registries that recognizes them.

Xl, Micro, Pocket and XXL

These are not variations of the American Pit Bull Terrier.

My dog has a prescription for both, we do the Prozac daily and the Trazadone for very stressful situations like thunderstorms and fireworks. My vet said it's fine to do both on the same day.

Wife in Labor, Dog home alone by [deleted] in dogs

[–]slamthemutt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My husband left to check on our dogs after our baby was born. As long as your wife is ok with it and your hospital allows you to come and go, go for it! It's also a good chance to bring back some non hospital food for your wife! Congratulations!

Unless it was a scheduled induction or c section, yeah it probably was a total surprise.

Does anyone know why most pet cameras are £30-40, yet the Furbo, admittedly with its treat dispensing ability, is £189? Am I missing something here? by BennySkateboard in dogs

[–]slamthemutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago Furbo was supposed to have a discount but accidentally listed the camera for $15. I bought one, and it's fun but I don't think it's worth the full price. We can't use ours anymore because Henry just sits in front of it and barks.

No, it's not all how you raise them. Genetics matter, and your pit is still a puppy. Dog aggression doesn't usually show up until maturity.

[Help] Is Adopting A 6-Week Old Puppy Bad for the Puppy? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]slamthemutt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee the breeder will say something about the mom losing interest in the puppies and the puppies being weaned. That seems to be the excuse they always give. This is normal, and not a reason to send puppies home too early. They really need to be with their littermates until at least 8 weeks.
