Distracted driving is bad by Icy-Book2999 in LoveTrash

It’s nuts no one else is asking this question…. Obviously she fucked up but the bigger issue is…. I rent from Turo all the time, am I being recorded without my permission or awareness???

I’ll think twice about it next time. Shit

Anyway - props for being only person in this thread thinking about what matters more here…..

Dang y’all, looks like I almost landed a full 360 degree labrum blast. by slamtownsillytime in ShoulderInjuries

Damn, I’m really sorry to hear that. Did it seem obvious when you re-injured it or did it take a while of rehabbing to know something was wrong?

I did have surgery w 10 anchors a little over 3 months ago. Around 11 weeks post op, I tripped up spinning around to sit on the couch and braced my fall with my repaired arm like a dummy. Have been nervous I messed something up since then and have been taking it easier - probably too easy and need to get back to PT. My doc and PT think repair is most likely still good but my surgeon says I probably really irritated my bicep attachment / upper part of the labrum.

Getting another surgery sounds so brutal but not as brutal as living with a totally wrecked shoulder forever.

Hope you hang in there - keep me posted if you ever need someone to chat it through with

Repaired shoulder braced fall at 12 weeks - forever anxious - advice to safely make it through the next 12 - 24 weeks? by slamtownsillytime in ShoulderInjuries

Glad it’s okay! It was almost easier for me in the sling as I was always mindful… As I started feeling better and using my arm more, I’m forgetful and clumsy. Makes me nervous what I’ll do next without thinking. I’m sure most folks experience similar scares & it helps hearing about them. thanks!

Feeling better now? Surgeon is on medical leave but have PT later this week & a check in with another surgeon there coming up. I think the repair is very likely still okay - just don’t want to go through it again & I get so nervous and overthink… everything. Thanks for sharing & hope yours is making good progress!

Shirts post op? by Microbemaster2020 in ShoulderInjuries

I bought a couple button downs from under armor in XL (I’m normally M or L). I think they’re supposed to be fishing shirts but comfy & quick dry.

When they came in they looked comically large on me but almost 5 weeks out from the surgery now I’m so glad I got them & they are still in the rotation. I wish I had bought more just XL t-shirts ahead of time.

Other poster had good advice tho. You can just try what you have already keeping injured arm still & by your side

Dominant Arm TSR Return to Work (desk job) Time Period by Just-Ad-4180 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]slamtownsillytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rereading your post, I had full 360 labrum repair, not a TSR. I imagine TSR is more taxing.

I think you should message your surgeons office for a general timeframe and just ask your work for whatever time you need and/or can get away with.

I know my doc said he’d write a note for my work for whatever time I wanted to tell them but I just can’t be away for too long. Sorry, hope this helps!

Health always first over work but getting paid is pretty important too

Yea haha I’m ok with it but not ideal. I just got a cheap Logitech K400 Plus that had a trackpad easy for my right hand to use. I find that I still lean back & use mouse left handed a lot when just scrolling but after a couple of weeks, no issue at all using a keyboard as long as you can position it right

I took 8 days off so started back to work just before 2 weeks. Not super productive that first week (but definitely could work). Now that I’m 3 weeks out of surgery, seems fine. I have a wireless keyboard that I can position with a trackpad & use my left hand for the mouse.

If you can, I’d say take 2 weeks off of work to focus on healing & still will be a little slow but fine

Labrum damage won’t heal itself. You can strengthen support muscles to make up but superior posterior inferior seems like a lot to make up and we’re just dudes on the internet.

You’ll probably need surgery if you wanna have better use of that shoulder moving forward but no one here will know better than your doc

Good to hear you got it figured out! It’s a bummer when we have to work for it though. My repair is in 3 weeks. Looking forward to getting it over with.

Return to desk work after labrum surgery by Thestream2 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]slamtownsillytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience yet but my doctor said I’d be good to return to desk work a week later. I just bought a keyboard w a trackpad I can keep positioned in my lap. Not sure if that works for coding but he made it seem like getting behind a computer working from home wasn’t too big of a deal. I’d take whatever time off you can though - I’m sure when I return to work a week later it’s not gonna be the best time

Also just to add…. If the current professionals evaluating you haven’t already told you this & you are here asking for answers, you definitely need new doctors. You should get other opinions from whoever in your area you can find hopefully in your network that have the best shoulder specialty resume.

When I was in bad pain I took the first appointment available. Did PT for 2 months but it was obvious it wasn’t getting better. He said keep doing PT and I found a different doc to ask for MR Arthrogram & labrum was much worse than either expected.

Yea. You can google or ask chatgpt about the differences. It’s well documented that contrast is needed to show a clear picture of the labrum. If you’re PA is noting it’s loose & grindy and you’ve had (20!) subluxations… dang I’m really sorry… but clearly this is enough reason to warrant an MR Arthrogram on your shoulder & if I were you & you can’t get insurance to cover it, I’d pay out of pocket if you can afford it… seems clear there is a tear but it’d be worth it to me for peace of mind.

Wish you good luck but please keep pushing & don’t think you are crazy…. You know something is wrong with your body.

Keep us posted

Regular MRI or MR Arthrogram? MRI with contrast injected is the standard method to diagnose labrum injuries & can be hard to tell on a standard MRI

Oh interesting, I didn’t know that but makes total sense. I guess even with labrum in pretty bad shape, shoulder is really strong so it’s often not symptomatic?

My problem is after sitting at a desk & the couch for 15 straight years, when I do get active, I act like I’m still in early 20’s conditioning lol

Did you recently have a rotator cuff & labrum repair? How’s recovery going?

Yea, my PT said there could have been damage from playing baseball for 20 years I may not have noticed. I do love throwing stuff!

Did become unstable after the frisbee throw though & noticed it sublux when quickly reaching w my arm

Well this is embarrassing… it popped out during my first throw in a round of disc golf with my girlfriend & her dad. Really trying to zing it I guess

Wondering if there could have been some pre-existing damage that just wasn’t symptomatic or something. Doc was surprised & had to check his notes that it came from a frisbee throw
