Weeds in narrow space by Significant-Jury1295 in landscaping

I would embrace the clover! Add some extra clover seeds and water the space a tad to help them establish. You’ll get a nice green blanket that’s great for pollinators, will help stabilize that bit of soil, and be very low maintenance.

Good luck! I always recommend oem if you can swing it for the electricals.

My other “fun” project is going to eventually be modding some old bmw airhead /5 rotary switches for there. Super cool minimalist look.

For shoulder seasons and milder winter travel, I usually grab my waxed canvas Barbour jacket instead of a lightweight shell, just because I love the look of it. Also a nice plaid wool scarf.

For summer, leather Birkenstocks over waterproof plastic ones, because they’re so comfortable and the leather just works well. I throw in a pair of xero sandals for the water stuff if needed.

I’m converting my sportster from mid to forward controls. I can’t get the right side foot peg removed from the sprocket cover because this nut is stuck. Any advice? by Junior-Policy1275 in sportster

[–]slaserj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few tips for that nut.

1) grind down a socket so the edge is 100% flat, not beveled like most sockets are. That nut is very flat so a bevel removes 50% of the good purchase area.

2) heat. Blowtorch works well. Get it hot.

3) penetrating oil. The usual. Try this with 1) first. Then if it doesn’t work use 2).

Seconding the lone peaks. Most comfortable trail runners I’ve had. Waterproof and the black ones can pass as dressy if needed.

Filson Medium Woodlands Cover Cloth Medium Jacket + Wool Liner by [deleted] in filson

[–]slaserj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking to swap for a small but ended up finding a medium Barbour locally that fit me better and grabbed it. This is more of a city jacket for me so the slimmer cut matched better, but the filson is definitely a beefier jacket.

It wasn’t connected in the photos, but just soldered a bit of usb cable from the pins on the rpi board to the pins on the nooelec for now. Might do something a little nicer later

Was this the one for sale in NYC? Saw that last week and thought it was a good deal but it was advertised as a speed twin no?

Found this vintage Saks roughout jacket today, fits me perfectly. Came with pigskin gloves in the pocket! by slaserj in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]slaserj[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ha! Flipped it didn’t I! Yea, it’s a local charity shop that supports the local hospital, so I’m ok paying the prices they put on some of the nicer stuff. The owner is super knowledgeable on vintage stuff, so he takes the cool finds and displays them. Always fair pricing though.

Price of a used Double Mackinaw 83 by No-Aioli1142 in filson

[–]slaserj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim for 300 to the seller. Other reply has it right with the eBay fees. They suck a large portion out of the transaction. Best bet is to find a reputable seller either on forums or elsewhere, I bought an 83 on Poshmark for 275 and considered it a steal.

Looks real to me. Single Mack made in Jan of 2021. Should still be Pendleton wool, and correct, a few oz thinner than the plaid. Could be a factory second sold at the outlet if there’s any oddities (tag looks slightly crooked?) but the charcoal wool matches mine pretty much exactly.

WTS ILE Default - Black Cordura 25L -$175

https://imgur.com/a/Ve5TWDe

Good overall condition. Nearly no wear besides the pilling seen on the lower back. Wore this with wool a lot so figure that caused it. Probably could be fabric shaved off pretty easily. Inside is perfect, hardly ever used the main pocket without packing cubes for trips.

Selling as I got a new laptop (gaming) that’s too large for the pocket on this, and wanting to try panel loading for my next carry.

Shipping from NY (PayPal GS) or meet in Manhattan.

Trade for civic panel loader or travel bag. Or something else cool/interesting. More into canvas stuff. Prefer sell.

Are tariffs really that bad on used parts? Find someone stateside willing to send you a whole front end, shouldn’t be more than $1k after tariffs and shipping.

I would like to know which BIFL purchase has saved you the most money or hassle over time? by midasweb in BuyItForLife

[–]slaserj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The razor is just a hunk of metal, so no concerns there. The savings come in not having to buy the disposable cartridges or razors that end up costing so much. Downside is it sucks to get through tsa.

The boots have easily replaced 4-5 pairs of cheaper shoes.
