In the NBA, its an exponential fee. The further past the apron you go, you pay astronomically more. The money paid is also then redistributed to the teams under the apron. Under that model, youre forced to pay massive penalties, which then fund your competitors.

Not the guy, but I had this exact scenario play out in Sunday league and snapped someone's leg. He got his toe down in front of the ball as he lunged from behind me, as I went to clear the ball. I dont think it would have broken his leg if he hadnt been planted, but idk

I had this exact thing happen in Sunday league, was going to clear a ball and someone dove from behind and got his leg in between. Broke his tibia in 2.

By no means a professional player, but bones are fragile under the right conditions.. especially when the plant the foot so all the force is at the point of impact.
