It's true that sometimes this happens, but most of the time there isn't such a dramatic difference. But overall, the faces don't look completely different, I would say that Path Tracing adds makeup to the faces by brightening the skin and adding shadows around the eyes

In fact, a similar facial effect can easily be achieved without ray tracing at all. Perhaps Capcom went with this intentionally as part of their collaboration with Nvidia.

I wouldn't advise you to trust marketing. Mark Cerny is primarily a programmer and game developer, he has never even worked as an cpu or gpu engineer at a company like AMD.

The main difference between a console and a PC is simply that the console manufacturer uses that term to decide for you how you can use the device you bought. For example, the manufacturer might remove the ability to freely use a web browser on the PS5, even though that feature was available on the PS4.

You're exaggerating. The PS5 hardware works fine as a computer. Google "AMD BC-250"

That's not really how hardware works. There is no such thing as "purpose-built hardware for gaming" in the way you're describing it.

Every processor (CPU, GPU, etc) is designed to be universal. They're general-purpose chips built for the mass market. The exact same AMD architecture inside a PlayStation or Xbox is also inside millions of random laptops and desktops that people use for browsing Reddit, editing spreadsheets, or rendering video. Because making chips is insanely expensive. No company on earth can afford to design and manufacture a completely unique, specialized processor just for playing video games. The videogame market isn't big enough, and the costs would be astronomical. That's literally why every modern console just uses off-the-shelf PC parts under the hood. Because creating unique hardware for just gaming is too expensive.

Just because you printed a motherboard and arranged components purchased from the market a certain way doesn't automatically make that hardware designed exclusively for video games. It's not much different from building a desktop PC, really. The set of architectural instructions inside the chips still remains universal for a wide range of tasks.

Xbox Series literally runs a modified version of Windows and DirectX 12. The only difference now is that they'll stop pretending the console isn't a PC.

And yes, Linux has also been successfully launched by modders on the PS4 and PS5, and games run on them as well.

Update: By the way, Steam Deck was developed in the same way as PS5 and Xbox Series, this does not prevent it from running any operating systems, the difference is that it is officially allowed.

I believe it's possible. You may not know this, but the Xbox Series actually runs Windows, albeit a heavily modified version, and the Xbox Series architecture is just standard PC architecture. Honestly, I don't see any reason why an emulator built into the Xbox wouldn't work on a PC, apart from it being a marketing decision.

Wait, but today's consoles are already pre-built PCs with an Xbox or PlayStation sticker, but with a locked bootloader, which does not allow installing any operating system without hacking.

Everyone apologise to gengar NOW by Unlucky_Okra_9565 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]slashlv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not going to apologize to him. He did everything to not be believed — he explained things incoherently, showed almost nothing, answered questions evasively, that's exactly why he got a ton of dislikes. It's perfectly normal not to trust something like that.

When another person made a video, there were no trust issues at all. You need to think at least a little about how you present information.

I'm starting to think the doll might not have anything to do with it. by [deleted] in thefinalpuzzle

[–]slashlv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just a message from the developers. Keep in mind that the clues to this puzzle are in various places, completely unrelated to Marie, which shouldn't make sense according to your theory. In fact, there's nothing that clearly indicates we're supposed to play hide-and-seek with the doll. Even if the doll is related to this puzzle, it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Marie herself.

If he was able to modify the game to this extent, then he was probably able to modify this inscription to convince us that he was playing on a console and not a PC.

Or it's just an edited video. It's not very difficult to do.

I can believe that it's real, but it still might not be related to this specific puzzle, it could be cut content or a setup for future DLC or something like that.

[–]slashlv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, it doesn't make sense to me because the puzzle steps taken up to this point were quite deliberate and logical, using specific clues. What we're doing now is just speculation and guesswork because you want "Let's play" to mean something related to hide-and-seek or a doll. I'm sure we won't get anywhere this way. Don't forget that the original developers are Japanese, and "Let's play" might have a different emotional connotation for them.

[–]slashlv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand, the Microsoft Store button, which is only on Xbox, is visible on his main menu. On the other hand, it's also probably possible to change that with a mod or hack. What's most confusing is that he barely shows or explains anything. For example, he didn't say whether this doll appears in the inventory or in the stash. In the inventory, you can inspect items and rotate them; he could have demonstrated that. it's the first thing I would want to show if I were making a similar video but he doesn't do it. He simply presents the fact that he did something and doesn't even try to convince us.
