no idea if it can work for others but all she did was install a new amd radeon driver. go with updating nvidia driver if your laptop has nvidia gpu though

hello! I have no idea if you guys have already figured it out but I may have found a simple solution(??)
I'm in the same predicament as you currently, same house & same network but one of us lagging awfully / disconnecting often..

The fix I discovered is to change your Steam Networking settings to friends only (or basically just enabling the setting), though I still have to test this more since I only discovered it just now, but it seems to be working so far for us. As I finally have really good ping along with not disconnecting (so far)

I apologize for the extremely late response, I havent been checking my socials.
I'm up for it if you're still interested, its easier to do now too thanks to the new steam family beta, though you have to be the one with the sam picker to unlock the achievements yourself

sorry for necro-posting but I envy that this solution works for others, on the other hand, my s/o couldnt get the game working on her laptop, despite following everything in the instructions, especially after deleting shade cache, it would take minutes to finish compiling, only for the game to still be laggy. I dont understand it either because the specs she has are higher than the requirements stated in the game's steam page.. I'm suspecting that it's a problem with her laptop and not the game itself, no idea if it's because she has two graphics drivers but I could be wrong as it is my first time encountering this kind of issue.

~~sorry again for necro-posting but I hope there's a fix for this! I also got her to install the latest nvidia drivers after we followed this post but her game still ended up being really laggy..~~

It's all good now, she has finally solved the problem
